ENO/MUON Ethernet Filters for Streaming Audio

Congrats and you will definitely love it - no matter what direction you prefer it
@luca.pelliccioli So you ended up having the short, directly connected side of Muon Pro to the streamer, right?

Definitely!

Luca, I liked it in the first 3 seconds. I have to accept some compromises because itā€™s similar to my Sbooster in the rack with the cables opposite. I didnā€™t follow the 30 minute rule. But now after the first 3 hours I love it beautifully. The next step towards bliss in music has been taken. Sometimes just a little something is missing and it makes the difference by giving music a natural touch with rich timbres and beautiful shading. The Dragon is supposed to show up tomorrow, Iā€™m excited. The Auva 100 should also be a hit. If I manage to turn off the music, I wanted to modify my rack a bit so that I have more space for the cables. Or tomorrow  Greetings Andreas

Enjoy, it seems to get good reviews.:slightly_smiling_face: I assume you use it right before the streamer, and which direction sounds better is quite interesting.

Donald, do you really want to know? :face_with_monocle:

If I tell you this, you pulled out your credit card Please, you wouldnā€™t want it any other way.

Hard to describeā€¦
In terms of sound, after about 3 hours a finer gradation in the sound was noticeable. Dynamics improvement in macro and micro. The bass is more controlled.
The timbre layering has improved. Itā€™s another step towards real sound.
Itā€™s hard to imagine that things can get even better in the next 50, 100, 200 hours. After 3-4 hours itā€™s just not only music to your ears.

I use the recommended direction with the short output cable on the streamer. It already sounds better to me. If the reverse direction were even better, I would be amazed. I might try it in a few days. But what else can I tell you? Youā€™ll experience it for yourself by then. NA delivered to me overnight. Maybe it will work for you until the weekend. I also looked at the other filters. I also found the Stack Audio interesting at first glance. Unfortunately it only has a bandwidth of 100mb. With my streamer on the Melco s100 switch on the 100 mb port recommended for audio, I had the problem every now and then that the streamer froze and I had to restart it. I donā€™t have any problems with the 1Gb port. And with the muon pro it sounds better to my ears on the 1 Gb port. Your Grimm MU will definitely benefit from a higher bandwidth of 1 Gb instead of the limited 100 mb provided by the SmoothLAN. Just my thoughts.
Short version as Al said, it makes a difference that can please.

Greetings Andreas

So far it seems to improve everyoneā€™s system. Good to know! Time tošŸŒšŸ¼

Great to hear - and another confirming my experiences. The Muon Pro so far improved the system of every friend I visited immediately (even some really high-end ones).
So @network_acoustics keep up the excellent work and we look forward whatever is coming along your way.

I found taping the SR master fuse to the bottom of toilet seat sounds best experimenting with before I returned it. It sounds closer to the original source. Now I know where 600 dollar toilet seat originated.

We know how you felt about Master fusešŸ¤£

The master fuse is a good fuse!
It just has to fit the system and your own perception. I have two master fuses in my system and I like it.
In the future I will only buy components that no longer have fuses. This means that I wonā€™t have to play around with fuse upgrades.
The Farad super 10 is the first one.
Did I only order it because of the superior internal fuse?
And no SDFB and additional cable needed. Everything included.
Iā€™m excited, it should arrive before next weekend.
Today I connected the muon pro in front of the Melco s100 switch on the 1 Gbit port. The streamer is now on the 100 Mbit output of the switch. Because the 100 Mbit output should give priority to the audio signal and remove noise.
It sounds a little warmer (more analogue) but also less energetic than when I had connected the muon pro directly in front of the streamer on the 1 Gbit port. Is it the power supply, the 1 Gbit vs 100Mbit port, the Melco or the position of the muon pro? Iā€™m curious to hear how it sounds with the Farad Super 10 instead of the Sbooster power supply.

Itā€™s the weather outside your window, fall is coming!

I guess the 100Mb is the bottleneck, because the Muon Pro works at its best at 1Gb by design.
I was used to use the Muon Pro with the PhoenixNET, that works at 100Mb, I largely prefer the Tempus which can run at Gigabytes.

When I installed the muon pro between the streamer and the switch, I used a 1 Gbit output.
As far as I know, the Melco switch on the 100 Mbit output is supposed to reduce the noise further. It sounds more dynamic on the 1 Gbit output and more smoother on the 100 Mbit.
Iā€™m excited to see if the new power supply will improve the Melco again and then I can continue experimenting.
The Tempus also seems to be good. The LHY SW 10 is also said to be very good. The LHY 6 doesnā€™t have quite the same performance as the 10 but maybe itā€™s enough as a switch after the router to set up a fiber optic connection to the Melco.
Or should I upgrade the power supply?
Powerzone, Progressive audio Power Station? Or the ground box from Lessloss that cleans the L and N power?
The Lessloss solution is connected in parallel. Fits my PS Audio power filter or the others tooā€¦
Unfortunately, no one here has that yet? Although I read a positive comment on the Lessloss website and that person had a lot of PS Audio components in the system.

In your shoes Iā€™d consider the Grimm MU2, hands down!

And youā€™ll forget all the tweaks upstream, end game upgrade.

Today I compared the outputs of the Melco s100 switch a few more times.
As many people report, it sounds quieter at 100Mbit and the digital noise of a 100Mbit connection is said to be lower than at 1Gbit.
How does it sound to my ears? I donā€™t hear any noise, except maybe my tinnitus.
What is noticeable is that the 1Gbit connection sounds more dynamic to me and thus gives the notes better timing.
Whether the Muon pro is connected in front of the switch or between the switch and the streamer, the differences are smaller for me. These marginal differences could also be due to the different cables that lead to the streamer.
I like it slightly better with the muon pro between switch and streamer on the 1Gbit port.
The cable I use is a Jcat lan signature gold, silver conductor with 7% gold.
The rest from the modem to the streamer is Furutech lan cat 8 ncf.

I like the Muon Pro connected in front my Ediscreation Silent Switch.
Not only can I really not hear a difference in itā€™s location, but I enjoy the added benefits of the filtered ethernet to my switch that also provides signal to my AppleTV and Sony OLED tv.

We upgraded to the Muon Pro System that includes the Muon Pro ethernet cable. The addition of their cable made a very nice difference in our system.

  • So now we have router > switch > muon pro ethernet cable > muon pro ethernet filter > streamer, and itā€™s no longer reversed.

So far doing it this way sounds best in our system.
