I do not know how good the new SW-6 is, but I know you are happy with SW-8. I really like SW-10 switch in my system, and it is a step up from SW-8 since I have heard from both.
The SW10 is massive, didnāt realized that until I saw that video today. Didnāt pull the trigger yet since the verdict between Lumin U2 and Aurilec G2.2 is unknown, and 1.5k sure can be better spend on the streamer vs the switch.
Iām sure SW10 is an upgrade compared to SW8. My setup currently has a long fiber run to a small fiber switch then to my SW8. Now, I wonder if setting up multi-step fiber switch filter will leveling the playing field with just one sw10. Better(maybe)?: my existing fiber ā first fiber sw ā>short fiberā>sw6ā>isolated ethernet---->sw8ā>my streamer. Also donāt have to worry about selling the sw8.
He talks about multi stage network setups in part 2 of the video utilizing sw6 and sw10.
It is hard to know which way is the best. I thought I found a solution, and now I feel I have no clue.
The part 2 of the video will fit into my upgrade nicely. Assuming I will switch from fiber optic to Omega ethernet between Lumin U2 and SW-10, I will need to move the F.O. upstream to block noise. I will either use a converter, or use a SW-6 switch as shown in the video. The great thing is I can utilize the master clock function to synchronize both switches. What a great idea that is! LHY SW-6 is in my top of list for yet another streaming upgrade in future
Darn, that also means I need to have another nice power cord
and another nice fuse for the switches too This hole never ends haha!
Donald,
Will let you know my findings, I have a feeling sooner a later Iāll get the sw10 anyways
Iāll be very interested in your finding! Congratulations!
I took my MUON Pro System out today. I am having Roon issues that I canāt seem to eliminate. I am trying to remove variables. It was a variable.
Did Roon recover without MUON?
I will let you know when I know for certain.
Such is the way with high end stereo gear. Almost everyone here is 98% to 99% āthereā. There are a lot of sideways moves at the top of the chain.
I canāt speak for others, but I know Iām doing this:
As long as itās fun I donāt care, maybe itās true for majority of good folks here.
As long as the results - or lack thereof - are worth the price of finding out it is worth the time and money to do so. And a lot of fun.
You do end up with a big pile of stuff along the way though.
Maybe intervention is in order?
Nah, just keep on rolling and grinning.
Itās like finding my way out with a dim flash light in a dark forest. I wont know which step to take unless I take one thatās lid by the flash light. And step by step, I learned slowly what matters and what matters less, and what is just horseshit.
Only thing to try next is mega buck cables, which will take a leap of faith for the first step, which I simply refuse to do.
Itās kind of like racing cars and I suppose about every other hobby / sport / profession.
When you get to the top of the heap the list of things to do is pretty short but there is a huge list of things not to do.
Do not try it!
Once you heard how much the topline cables can do, the flood gate will be wide opened. The resistence is futile.
Reverse pychology wonāt work on me Donald
The problem with walking around in dark forests is the high chance of regularly stepping in horseshit. Best to only go exploring in the harsh light of day.
Itās nice to see two British garden shed companies, Network Acoustics and Sablon Audio, apparently one-or-two-man businesses run by a marketing guy and an accountant respectively, charging a few Brits and a lot of Americans large amounts of money for quite ordinary things. That said, my wife was at Buckingham Palace on Thursday having a day out with her neice and, based on the tickets and the prices in the gift shop, apparently King Charles III is doing exactly the same thing.
Donāt think that CAD and Puritan are bigger companies. A few years ago also Nuno and Amelia (Innuos) started assembling PSUs in their kitchen (at the time based in London if memory serves me well). Maybe also Sean Jacobsās company is pretty small.
Taking the MUON Pro out solved my Roon issues. So now I have ti determine if its a problem with the MUON or the wireless device.
I am guessing itās the wireless device.
Update: Wireless device gone.
MUON Pro now plugged into a Gigabit port on the A Side of my EtherREGEN.
Testing begins.
