I too am trying to figure out if…ONLY using Eversolo as a streamer ONLY…does it matter what gen or if a 6 or 8, etc…Just a streamer it should perform the same, yes?

From what i can gather, yes. I mean maybe they would use a different processor in their flagship 10? I doubt you would hear it.

However IF you just need a streamer, then something like a Aurender 100 or 150 will greatly surpass what is in the Eversolo. But if you need the features or just like the screen then there is a trade to be made…as always…

Surpass it how?

When using an Eversolo strictly as a streamer into a DAC, if you use USB or I2S digital output, the clocking takes place in the outboard DAC. Likewise, the op amps are in the analog circuit when using the Eversolo’s internal DAC to analog out. So as a streamer only connected via USB, despite what YouTube “reviewers” say, the Master Edition shouldn’t be any different than the standard A6. Some of those reviewers used the coax digital out, where the clock is in the circuit, however, so they are flawed in their evaluation of streamer only. The A8 does have I2S output which is the superior connection, but supposedly the pin configuration is reversed for L and R from PS Audio, requiring a custom HDMI cable.

The A10 does use an isolated USB output (?galvonically isolated), which might offer some improvement but at a huge difference in price. Streaming only is not what the A10 is designed for and would be a waste of money possibly.

Has anyone used the Matrix Audio X DCC with an A6 to go from USB convert USB to I2S into their DS Dac Mk I? Since the original Mk. I USB input is reportedly marginal quality, thus I2S being the preferred input, I’m curious if anyone here has used that combo. Would it make any difference with the A6, not being a noisy computer with powered USB output? I suppose the same question could be asked of ony non-computer streamers.

I use a A6 plus matrix - I like it a lot. I found going to i2s w the matrix a nice change for the DS MkI. I also like the A6 and have 20 tb of music hooked via usb hub to it plus I can stream anything as well. Compared to my laptop it - it’s been so long. I just know I do like this combo especially for the price I wanted to get rid of the laptop as it was kind of a pain.
