Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen2 and Master Edition Gen2

Gen 2. First was popular. Then came 8. Now Gen 2. And < a grand?

Great option.

I wish they’d consider doing an all out streamer with no DAC.

I agree… I’d guess they will at some point

How much…?

Wow.

If the DAC is great, what a value.

Went looking for the Gen 2. Unobtainium… at least in my search.

On Summit’s site it say shipping starting January 17th and they will ship to retail dealers before places like Amazon if like previous releases.

yeah, lots of places are saying “pre-order, shipping in january”

I called around and the common theme was:

Razor thin margins. They are not even discounting the previous versions yet and anything <retail will be rare.

End of January. Guaranteed not everbody will get product. However if I go this route I only need 1.

I never pay and then wait. Who knows if next week its end of Feb.

hopefully most places don’t charge your card until they ship, so you could try to have a few irons in the fire and cancel once something comes through.

(but that requires some rigamarole/juggling that not everyone has the patience for!)

If you (or @2muchgear) manage to get your ears on the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2, I would love to learn about your experience with the kit.

I have a second DS Sr. in my office system that would be a candidate for replacement if the A6 ME II is worth a hoot. My primary listening material is sourced from Qobuz and fed to the DS Sr. via an optical cable from an Auris bluMe HD Bluetooth music receiver.

The fidelity is just O.K. and I would like to add the capability to make some of my files available in this system. Would be very interesting if I could use the A6’s internal DAC and/or the DS Sr.

I dont think the Masters gets me anywhere if im just running usb out. But same streamer etc. Ill report if i end up there.

For me i think A6 is the ticket…

Actually…

the Master Edition has improved audio clocks and op-amps, which results in better sound quality.

Clock i have. Op amps? Hmm

In the humble amount of research I did (reading forums, etc…) it seems the consensus was that if you used an external DAC, you don’t need the Master Edition.

Here’s a thread on the zidoo/eversolo forum that kinda speaks to this.

Is it gospel? Ahdunno, but I don’t feel like I’m missing out by owning the A6 Standard Edition.

The Gen 2 has a few upgrades like linear power etc. Gen 2 Masters has better op amps and clock.

A6 Gen 2 i think is fine especially if you have an external DAC.

But if both are available …

However the Masters edition seems like 50 dollars in parts but a 400 dollar mark up.
Great marketing.

Probably slightly better though if used as stand alone.

Shipping this month as well.

I read/heard an interesting comment the other day about the Icon. DSP/Dirac, if added, is supposedly applied before the DAC so the modified signal is available on the digital outs. I suppose this implies that others do not?

Got this back from a well known on line retailer:

No word yet for an arrival date on the Gen 2 Eversolo’s, but we’ll make them available for preorder and put an estimated date on that listing along with a notification link as soon as we can. I expect it will be at least 4-6 weeks, but that is just an estimate.

My A6gen2 arrives early next week.
Looking forward to listing to my 5.1 SACD iso’s again.
Sounded great on A6 wondering if there will be a difference with LPS.
