Fidelizer Software

I usually play entire albums. But I will be flipping network on sooner or later

So I flipped my network on and off tonight al. To do this - all you have to do is run fidelizer and either choose Audio player or Audio player (without network connection). Then reboot your machine.

Unfortunately I think I like it better with the network off. Ymmv - but I’d like to hear what you think. I’ll prob go back again and check it once more before I make up my mind. I do like not having the music server on the network For simplicity’s sake - but need to see if getting up is going to be bothersome. I will definitely check again to see if it’s my brain or not. Back in the day we had to flip a record every 5 songs.

Thanks for the feedback!
I do not stream music, I buy it and I buy a lot of it. I process it all on my workstation and then I copy it to my music server over the local net. But, all the music goes to a tiny external 2TB SSD USB3 device that I could walk from one room to another as long as I shut down the music software, unmount the drive etc.
I will try it, but I doubt the improvement can overcome the loss of convenience and iPad control.

Sadly the same here. I drive jriver from iPad app. I will get more chance to listen to my system when September arrives, but for now I prefer the sound of my system without fidelizer at all. Maybe there is a loss of some detail (without) but I find it much more enjoyable

Oh my. I had a different reaction. Should I be sad I encouraged you to try the spendy version?

Not at all, these things have got to be tried. didn’t cost much. Will try again later. I didn’t like snowmass for ages, now I love it.

I just don’t know how fidelizer would hurt the sound. It is just shutting down processes not used for audio.

Oh, it’s the usual thing Tim, when you change noise patterns you either prefer the result, or you don’t. Much like different versions of Snowmass, it’s the same dac, just different noise patterns from the pic.

Well. I guess I see what you are saying. I just think it would decrease noise - which is what teds ultimate goal always seems to be on the DS. I am sure results would vary based on laptop and what’s in your startup / your chip etc…

What is your system Chris - I am curious. Mine is laptop - matrix- DS- Cary slp98p - sunfire amp - maggies. Just wondering if tonality change is at issue here - whereas my system might like an uptick in one regard and yours might like another.

Noise isn’t reduced equally across the frequency range, so now sounds a bit thin in the midrange / vocal area, but other bits do sound more detailed. Just not as enjoyable.
Fanless i5 nuc type thing in a metal box with heat sinks. Aq diamond usb, matrix+lps1.2, aq mocha i2s, DSD

To me the difference from fidelizer is night and day. I never heard my dedicated NUC with LPS sound this good. I feel that the $70 is way too low. He could easily charge $200 or more for this. thankfully he does not. I mean the difference was not subtle. If you think a Matrix makes a big difference you have not heard a thing. this guy is a genius. He makes a Streamer for $2590.00 that is said to slaughter my highly modified W20SE! I highly suggest that everyone run and does not walk to purchase the pro version. I have nothing to do with the company. I am just a fanboy.

I’m afraid I have to temper your enthusiasm with a -ve from me. It made the sound very thin in my system. Granted it made a difference, just not in a good way.
Horses for causes I guess

Personally, I use Audiophile Optimizer 3.00/Service Tool + Fidelizer 8.9 via foobar2000 configured for DSD512 on-the-fly output from a dedicated laptop with windows services stripped-down for best sound output. If anyone is interested, I will, compile the screenshots which show how I have everything set up in foobar, Fidelizer, and AO, but don’t expect an immediate answer as it will take me a few days to get it put together and uploaded to my Google Drive where it will all be viewable via link.
