Finally, figured out how to stream to Eversolo using Qobuz direct

A few days ago I discovered the Qobuz icon listed way down the list under “apps” in my Eversolo. I found I could log in to Qobuz directly there. Didn’t like it, though I could finally access the radio app, the interface seemed laggy.
Tonight I did some further research and discovered a much better way. Log to the Qobuz app itself from my iPad. Play some music. On the screen that displays the album art with the moving time bar beneath you will find in the lower left corner an icon that displays the device you are listening to, in my case it showed iPad. Click on that. It will ask for permission to search for devices. Click OK. I selected Eversolo and the music came pouring out of my systems speakers. My streamer was turned on of course. I’ve only be streaming this way for a half hour of so but it sure seems to sound different than using the Eversolo app. More depth and apparent detail and transparency but brighter as well, almost glassy. Maybe my impression will change with further listening.

Qobuz is not all that difficult to learn and is worth the effort IME. Having INNUOS ZEN & ZENith server streamers I am not familiar with the EverSolo line. Qobuz integration with Innos products is seamless and sounds fine.

You must now be using Qobuz Connect, as this has become available recently and the Eversolo OS now supports it as well.

No I have not. I have accessed Qobuz with my Innuos devices before there was a Qobuz Connect concept planned. Innuos had teamed with Qobuz early on.

Some things I noticed-
When I’m done listening I close Qobuz but music keeps playing on the Eversolo. Must be buffering in there somewhere
A couple times Qobuz droped connection to the streamer and I need to restart the Eversolo to reconnect.
Sometimes a track will stop mid song and skip to the next track or just stops altogether.
The Qobuz connect definitely sounds brighter, or maybe less dark, compared to Eversolo using their Qobuz app- at least in my system. Trying less toe in to see if that helps. Does sound a bit more transparent though or maybe just more forward.

I’ve heard enough to say I prefer the sound of my Qobuz using the Eversolo app. The Qobuz app sounds a bit dry in the bass and the highs have an edge and forward character that does not appeal to me. It’s not terrible but as long as I have the choice I’ll be listening on the Eversolo app and using Qobuz app only to use the radio feature when I’m searching for new music.

Ok, kinda confused… you’re playing qobuz through the eversolo streamer in both instances, but you’re hearing a difference depending on what app you use to control it?

(not trying to start anything, just wanting to clarify!)

I certainly can’t explain it. The app is the only change. It’s another example of those crazy things that shouldn’t have any basis in reality. Like power cords or cable lifters.

I am not sure I agree. They designed the hardware, and fully understanding it allows them to tweak their software to take full advantage of it. Qobuz, on the other hand, is lowest common denominator software written to run on anything and everything. No ability to take advantage of any particular hardware feature.

Good point.
