Finally....PerfectWave SACD Transport

You definitely have the latest version because of the few production units released we’ve only ever shipped the latest. That said, there will be some software updates you will need to install. We’ve not yet released them, so stay tuned.

Yes, we’re moving slower than any of us had hoped. Definitely a challenge these days. Hopefully soon.

I received my new SACD transport this afternoon, was as cold as ice. So first warm up in the room before playing. Now it’s playing, burning in time. I wonder how will the update procedure go…with USB??? or internet and how will I know when there is a software update ready??

Yes, the update will be done with a USB stick. You’ll see that little USB update port in the back of the unit. Like most updates, I’m sure it will be announced here on the forum. Kind of a pain, but I usually recommend folks check the updates page intermittently. The latest versions of code will always be on that page. As of now, you’ll see that there are no updates for the PST on that page.

Just installed the PST and on playing a disc got major noise overlaying the music, about 50% louder than the music. Tried a different disc, same thing. Went through the menu and found nothing wrong. Finally did a restart from the back power switch and all seems fine now.

This is one of the bugs the next FW update will address.

This happens only (?) on power up. If it happened while playing music at higher levels there could be speaker damage.

From what we’re figuring out, once it’s gone it doesn’t usually come back. It seems to be something with the FPGA initialization.

Can we change the name of this to “Perfectwave Sacd Transport reviews…Finally?”

Ready for some owner reviews!

I’d vote for two new threads, one for issues and one for sound.

And leave “finally” out of the titles. Tired of reading it :cowboy_hat_face:

Especially if the issues thread can be configured as a wiki to assist new owners based on troubleshooting efforts of the community.

Not quite yet. We’re going to be wrapping up beta soon. A few production units slipped out the door early, but we’re holding off on shipping more until we release the next FW update.

Looking forward to the ultimate release.

That sounds like DMP episode 2 :fearful:

The only problem I had with the DMP was getting a disc to play either at initial load or after stopping play. Opening and closing the drawer fixed that but it was frustrating.

I haven’t tried all of the navigation functions on PST but the main ones work just fine. It has good response with almost no delay. The DMP seemed like it had an IQ around 70.
