Finally....PerfectWave SACD Transport

If you don’t mind, could you possibly capture a video of the scraping and send it to our service team? service@psaudio.com

Yes, the standby button puts the unit in and out of standby. The remote also turns it on and off. Everything is working, but the tray still scrapes when it opens and closes.

I sent video as you suggested. You can clearly hear the scraping

I’ve had something happen with the PST a couple of times and its worrying me. It’s happened twice that when I push the button to get it out of standby and turn on, nothing happens. I actually have to go to the back on/off button and it turns on after that. This does not happen all the time. Anything I could do to correct this?

Barry is hard at work figuring out a fix to this issue. It’s a known SF freezing bug and sounds like he will have a fix soon.

Thanks!!!

Hi,

I m taking delivery of the new PS sacd transport the end of the month.

I have a question about HDMI cable. Will the new Audioquest eARC 48 series of HDMI cable work with the transport and PS Audio DS DAC?

Thanks in advance.

Albert

Thanks for the question and I’m very glad you asked! No, the eARC type of cable from AQ will NOT work. AQ could go into more detail for why, but my understanding is that the cable termination is a little different as this type of cable is specific to audio and video. AQ advised us that this cable will not work with the I2S connection.

Thank you, @jamesh

Please let us know if you lean more.

Hi Jamesh,

So I assume as normal there is an I2S with the new transport. Should I use that one or my old I2S 12 and if I want to upgrade, is there better I2S cable out in the market that I can consider.

Thanks,
Albert

I’m waiting on an eARC for my LG soundbar > to my LG OLED TV.
HDMI is HDMI regarding the actual connector.
HOW & WHY would it NOT work connecting the Ps SACD transport to any Dac with a HDMI input ??

@twablt Although the cable is the same as HDMI, i2s is NOT the same thing… PSA transport with i2s output will only work with a DAC with correspoding i2s input. HDMI has nothing to do with this.

Well aware of manufacturers having different wiring for their own HDMI i2S cables/connections on their transports and dacs.
The AQ eARC is supposed to be different internally so one does not have to pay for the full HDMI experience (audio + video) when you only need a audio connection from a TV soundbar to TV or a transport to dac.

Here is page 5 of the latest Jay’s Audio Transport that has a HDMI output:

There is no industry standard of I2S connection. We could not guarantee the I2S connection workability with your DAC. This shall not be considered as a defect should the matching failed.

List of verified and tested DACs:

  •  JAY’S AUDIO DAC2-SE
  •  DENAFRIPS Pontus/Venus/Terminator (I2S Mode 000)
  •  PSAudio Directstream DAC
  •  Singxer SDA-1
  •  Holo Spring 1/2

Absolutely. The new transport has the same I2S option and is the recommended connection. At the factory, we absolutely love the Audioquest Diamond HDMI, which is the cable Paul did a majority of the listening tests with. With AQ rolling our the new HDMI 48 series, I’m sure we’ll upgrade to one of them soon.

Hi,

May I ask what is the fuse value for the new SACD transport? Thanks.

Same as in the PSA DMP, 1.6A short, slow blow, accessible from the rear.

Thanks. Is that written at the back of the unit?

I looked at page 11 of the downloaded operating manual, the picture showed 250mA.

I hope I don’t need to buy a new fuse when I upgrade from the DMP.

it’s 1.6A for 120V
It’s written on the back.

I can confirm that the fuse values in the PST are the same as the DMP. Voltage specific of course, so if you have a 120v DMP, the fuse will be the same in the 120v PST.
