Finest tiny bookshelf?

Loving the Elac Vela B403 on a P3 and S300. Sublime.
Elac Vela

Oh yes, Elac is very good too. I have heard those. Very nice.

What is that “BE” speaker? Is that Elac? That is much too large though.

I was thinking between the P3ESR and powered LS50. Probably the P3.

Also Spendor.

British speakers are really good. It is surprising how little they cost. I mean for how good they sound.

I am trying to make more room and looking at the Dynaudio Confidence 20. Of course than I can also look at the Kef Ref 1.

If using in near field situation do try the Adam audio T5. I think it will fit your dome mansions and will stand up or exceed any of the very good suggestions already made- plus you dotn need an amp as self powered.

Totem Skylight, $1000/pair:

I am a self-confessed fan of Anthony Gallo-designed speakers.

There are several past (no longer in production) and current, relatively diminutive, models available used and new. Add a small subwoofer to any of these and you have a pretty high performing speaker system.

For instance:

Good luck with your search.

What are Dome Mansions lol? Oh I get it, Dimensions.

I have used Adam professionally but I prefer Genelec. No problem to give Adam a listen though. Pro Audio dealer right by.

You know what else is worth a listen just to complicate things?
Amphion. However only dealer in the US closed. So scratch that.

Today I will listen to the Confidence 20 and I think I will just get them. I have read reviews. It is a high end speaker.

The KEF is honestly too heavy for me to lift and my sons are not here.

Well, I decided on the Kef Reference 1. It will be delivered Monday. I listened to about 6 less expensive speakers. Just not the same. The Kef is a very serious speaker. Not to say the likes of the P3ESR are not very nice in their own right. The Kef is obviously on a different level. Even, IMO blowing away the more expensive TuneTot. I own Wllson’s best speakers so I think I can say that.

The Kef is really something. It is barely larger than my original specs. I know you folks feel my answer is to always throw money at it. I just really liked these. I would have chosen them if they were 2 grand. Actually I do not know why they are so costly but they certainly sound the part.

I knew very well of them. I have even previously heard them. Upon comparison it was quite clear to me. I am not by any means belittling any other speakers. I just personally liked these. In fact I am well aware that many people outright hate these. We all hear differently. Quite frankly at my age my hearing is not so good and apparently these are quite shrill. Your upper range goes first. so that might explain why I like these. This is a 5th system. I do not like those junk whole home systems and I like music in most rooms. Well, the rooms I inhabit. Honestly I wish we could sell this home.

Good choice

Thank you very much

I just wanted to say. these have broken in a bit. these are actually really quality speakers! These could easily be someones main system. I figured Aluminum drivers must be junk but they pulled it off! I would honestly highly recommend these now.

I know everyone was done looking at the former thread. I wanted to bring up something that might interest some people. You all know I am a stickler for uber high end audio. Enter super good quality inexpensive audio IMO!

I once briefly had my end game bedroom setup and did not share because I do not honestly remember where it went. I do not care at all for Amphions Argon 3 ‘S’’. I feel he cut cost way too much thus grossly affecting sound. I once had but for a moment the original Argon 3. Half the size of my new Kef’s. I honestly just forgot about this. I also had a REL Q108 MK II. It honestly went to 10HZ! The T-Zero struggles to make 30HZ.

So anyways, as I remember these speakers were half the size of my new Kef’s. The workmanship of the cabinets was 100%. The sound was honestly sublime. From memory now, Much better than the Kef’s even. The one very cool thing I thing was there was no axis at all. You could move anywhere and get the same exact stereo image. From my memory, the short time I had them I really thought they were perfect.

Here is the reason I am bringing this up. A search of the last 2 years of Audiogon closed sales suggests these go for about $1000.00-$1350.00. The sub goes for $200-$500. I would not pay $500 for the sub unless you really want it because I think it was only $800 brand new. The only thing the sub may need is a new surround which is about $75 installed.

I just thought this level of sound for this price(if they come up) may be of interest to someone.

Another thing without starting another thread. The Classe CAP-2100 Integrated amp is perfect to drive them. It was about $7,000 new. Average used price only $1500.00!

Here you get a cheap stereo that brings down mountains.

See, I am not a complete snob after all.

Most certainly! I happen to love Zappa. Which is funny because I guess he himself(RIP) sadly is worth nothing. I got one of his gold records a while back for peanuts.

I guess the mods decided to merge this and that was a good call. I feared no one would look at it. I was already wrong.

Zappa was sure right about these. I honestly do not see how he can build such good speakers at that price point. I mean when they were new. I loved those. I am not losing my mind but I do not remember what happened to them and why so short ownership.

Kanto TUK (AMT tweeter)
Klipsch The Fives. (tractrix horn tweeter and HDMI ARC !)
Both are powered, can accept in any source, tunable, great dispersion, play well with subs. Great value.
(DSP is improving, men. Get ready.)
