Florida International Audio Expo reports

I had intended t arrange for a demo locally with music I am familiar with before pursuing the brand further. The dealer was overwhelmed with interest in components beyond my means, so it never came together. I get it, why set-up an $80k system when there is strong interest at $350k. So I remain content with my tube based analog system.

Completely agree with that assessment. I heard the smaller MBL’s and the large MBL 101’s in a rather large room at the Jacksonville, Fl. show ten or eleven years ago. I was really surprised at how little they gave up in comparison. In a “normal” sized domestic environment they’d be preferable to me. It irks me that MBL no longer bothers to bring the smaller speakers to shows anymore.

They had the space and determination to demo them at Axpona 2022. I can only hope for a repeat at 2023 Axpona. Maybe this time around the dealer will be more motivated to provide for a personalized dem as well. If not I do understand why and the motivations as well.

Both sets of the TADS left me cold.

How did the big clarisys sound?

I didn’t hear the smaller TADS and the ref ones toe in angle was set up for a large audience, not the typical single sweet spot. But my CR1’s really sing with the BHK300’s.

An acquaintace’s TAD Compact Reference Ones, a DartZeel CTH-8550 integrated, and a Garrard 301 turntable made one of the finest sounding systems I’ve ever heard in a medium sized dedicated listening rooms.

The Dart amps were recommended several years ago as a great match. I would love to hear the BHK600’s on TAD’s.

Wow just stumbled across this thread. I was there Friday and Saturday. I agree with you that this room sounded amazing!
