Good Movies

When I think of a “good movie” I think of this one. . . a powerful film that is one of my favorites.

I have this BluRay queued up for a viewing tonight. Kobayashi’s Samurai Rebellion.

Sanjuro a fine follow-up to Yojimbo. Nice clip BTW.

A direct result of Yojimbo:

The Sergio Leone series of Dollars, or man with no name are some great revisionist westerns.
I specifically mentioned A Fist Full of Dollars as it is directly based on Kurosawa’s Yojimbo.

really good movie

amazing

Maybe over simplifying a bit, but Samurai Rebellion asks how far can you push a man?
Kobayashi once again challenges feudal authority, and de-glorifies the samurai image.

One of my long time favorite novel / movie

Like to rewatch this movie. Recently discovered and collected Jacqueline Du Pre’s CD / LP and really enjoy her passionate music performance.

Rebecca is truly great film for sure

I’ve just remembered another brilliant one - “Being John Malkovich”.
I thoroughly recommend it, and massive props to John Malkovich for
being up for playing a weird fictional version of himself

It is a bit, er, odd though…

Convincing trailer, in that it might even convince me that contemporary (or any) dance is truly fab, it looks like an interesting documentary
We have a couple of friends, dancer and composer couple, they’ve had some success nationally and were doing well before the pandemic hit, hopefully they will pick up again now things are opening.

Fat boy Silm’s “Praise You” video notwithstanding…

It’s me, and my appreciation or lack of, not dance that is the problem

Haven’t seen that one, thanks for the tip
I’m not worried about 4k though - I save my high resolution thoughts for audio, my TV is 720p and usually has a cover over it

Another great one - Vanilla Sky, fab film
