Last_Night_in_Soho_(2021)_poster

Saw it yesterday. The most unusual, downright crazy thriller in years. But the real reason for wanting to catch it in the theater is it is Diana Rigg’s final role and is dedicated to her. What an amazing career she had.

Witty dialog and a film relying on actual character development.

And those Bette Davis eyes!

She does B*tchy effortlessly, :grinning:

And classy at the same time.

Revisited a couple old flicks I remembered stood out when I umm - RENTED them years ago.
Both hold up still quite well, however I sometimes rather miss the days of my youth when I was less perceptive to signs, symbolism, foreshadowing and some rather obvious storyline plot points as it made movies a little more mysterious and endings were more culminating and impactful. Now this may have also been an indirect result of the fact that movie rental night and beer rental tended to coincide.

One night in 86, myself and a buddy stopped into the video rental store; we each picked one flick, - just happened to be Blue Velvet AND River’s Edge.
The next day we both went on the wagon and began actively searching local therapists.

Yes indeed, classy and simmering beneath the surface. A cat waiting to pounce.

Many years ago I made the mistake of suggesting “Jacob’s Ladder” for movie night when we were visiting my wife’s sister and husband. They still blame me on occasion.

I’m enamored with the tale of Zatoichi. Which has been the subject of both film and television going back to the sixties. Love him or hate him (nobody working in Japanese cinema today polarizes opinion more), Takeshi ‘Beat’ Kitano’s take on film of the Zatoichi legend ticks all the boxes for me. Bloody as hell, laugh out loud funny in spots, prodigious performances from the entire cast. Everything I dig when Beat Kitano is at his best.

A documentary truly worth watching, especially if you like music and especially especially if you’re a drummer (and like to hang around with musicians, buhdum) “Count Me In” on Netflix.
