HDMI (i2s) Cable Recommendation

I would not recommend Bluejean. Great for video, especially Lumagen Radiance Pro because it can handle fast clock edges, but not audio in my experience.

Oh man, you’re going to make me buy 2 cables now. I currently have a Blue Jeans HDMI going from my Matrix to my DS DAC. I was getting this other cable for my CD Transport I’m expecting to get in about a week or 2. I guess I’ll do some testing once I decide on one of the ones above… or maybe it’s time to shell out the money for a Silver Starlight 7.

I know that not everyone agrees with me on this, but the Harmonic Technology Magic hdmi cable sounds fantastic and is affordable. Harmonic Technology's Magic HDMI

Agreed. Best ā€œaffordableā€ HDMI cable I have auditioned.

I had a Harmonic tech Magic HDMI cable for a brief time, bought a used one from the Music Room. I thought it sounded pretty good, but unfortunately it had a short or a bad connector on it, so I probably never heard it’s full potential.
Ended up trading it in towards an Audioquest Thunderbird 48 HDMI cable, which clearly sounded much better.

Just yesterday, I received my RAL CyroSilver Reference HDMI cable from Brad. I ordered it last Saturday and received it on Thursday. He shipped it overnight USPS from Florida to Michigan so I have absolutely no complaints regarding service from Brad. Also he answered about 5 emails within just a few hours. I’m using this cable for an I2S connection between my PS Audio PST SACD transport and my Holo May KTE DAC.

The sound of the RAL cable right out of the box easily beats my Van den Hul Ultimate 4K HDMI for eliminating grain. It was quite noticeable that this cable is quiet and provides a deeper sense of space compared to the VDH cable. I also feel that the RAL cable has a sense of ease that makes for a more relaxed fatigue free listening session. Brad partially burns in his cables on the Audioharma Cable Cooker before delivery. I think the RAL cable will get a little better with more hours on it but already I’m very happy with its sound quality. I highly recommend trying this cable if you have a high quality transport and DAC with I2S capability.

Just as a point of information it’s the audiodharma Cable Cooker. I have and use one and it does take care of the burn-in process within a few days.

Thanks, I was going to look it up before I posted but forgot to do it. Correction made.

You’re welcome – my pleasure.

You can’t burn-in a HDMI cable with the cooker, correct ??

Alan Kafton (the guy who designed and makes the Cable Cooker) has the appropriate adapter for HDMI cables. You can contact him to get the details if you’re interested. Either use the link or:

Thanks.
Last I checked in with him regarding a HDMI adapter he said it was in the works.
So he definitely makes them now ?
Tom

After posting, I went to his website and they’re not listed under the Adapters section so I called him just a little while ago. You’re right, he is working on them and while he thinks they’ll be available shortly they aren’t available for sale as yet.

I’m sorry for my misleading post and not getting back to correct it. Thanks.

Thanks for doing my legwork for me
It’s been years since he originally told me a HDM adaptor is in the works.
With ALL the adapters and gizmos he offers, it must be hard to make a HDM adapter I guess.

I only saw 1.5m on their site can you get 1m? If so is the price the same as 1.5?

Give it a few days to physically settle into your system and then evaluate again. Brad makes it clear it needs to settle into its resting position a bit before it sounds it’s best. Indeed it does!! I’ve had mine a few months now. By far, it is the most natural grain free, PRaT natural, open/dimensional, natural and dynamic HDMI I’ve personally heard. So much so next year I’m going to switch out my long beloved Shunyata Anaconda XLR analog cables with his analog ones. I’ve had discussions with Brad months ago via email regarding them. I believe from our discussions his will be a more natural match in my system than my Anacondas are.

Of course, this is IMHO. Still, I cannot deny the immense pleasure from the RAL my Wireworld Series 7 Platinum HDMI barely hinted at. To be honest, however, I was never personally impressed with the Wireworld HDMI.

Brad will sell custom lengths other than 1.5m. I needed a 2m cable and that was no issue but of course since it was longer than 1.5m it cost me a bit more. You can send him an email and ask for the price of 1m cable. He was very timely with his email responses.
