Headphone sweet spot?

Always.

Grados have such a dedicated following, there is a whole cottage industry out there making mods. Regarding the “vail”. Grados have been criticized as being bright, the Focals for not being not extended. Pick your liking.

I found that less bright, like the Focals result in less fatigue when listening for longer term.

Your call. I have been a long time … oh 20 years… fan Grados and only recently switched to Focals. Both are really great phones. You are fortunate you had the opportunity to compare.

That might be the thing. Before I tried the Grados, the Focals sounded fabulous. My demo was fairly short, and more critical than relaxing, so not sure about the fatigue factor. Currently I don’t do “long” listening sessions with headphones. I don’t even know what a long session would be.

They also had the Focal Elears for $600, which I think is a generously discounted price. (I know the Massdrop/Focal Elex’s are the same $600, and might even boast a slight upgrade.)

I do like the idea of spending $600 vs $1500, as I could put that towards a nice headphone amp. Ahdunno.

When I listen to my Elears, I never find them fatiguing or lacking. For the money they’re a great place to start.

Ok. I can’t help myself. The sweet spot… try sitting about 3” to the left on the center cushion of the couch…

As long as the sweet spot for the left and right ear cushions is equidistant, everything should sound ok.

Lol. You are so right !!

Thanks @bootzilla for bringing these to my attention. I’d been half heartedly looking for a new set of closed headphones for travel/work and these seem to fit the bill so I ordered a set last night. Hoping they pair well with my Chord Mojo.
