I am sorry, but “might be inherently better” is a qualified statement…not a question.
Yes, you have been careful to say that your comments are only about you and your setup so you cannot be challenged. But, that qualified statement is what got me to respond and talk about transports versus rips in general.
But then you throw in that other people suggest that transports sound “better” so it really isn’t just about your setup…but then it is when you get challenged.
Fair enough, I should’ve put a question mark on that statement. It was an error in punctuation on my part. To clarify, again, my intention was only to speculate. I was sharing the inner workings of my audiophile journey and thought process which is filled with infinitely more questions than answers.
If the punctuation error, or my subsequent clarification continues to cause you distress, I suggest counseling of some nature.
I didn’t realize this is the audio system battle dome where computer based folks come to fight it out with transport owners, like gladiators.
To repeat, I’m no way arguing with your position on computers vs transports. You’ve obviously thought it through. I’m not saying you’re wrong. I once thought as you do. However, my journey has led me to question that belief - with no sweeping conclusions having been reached.
Just relax. It’s all going to be ok.
I ordered a May KTE. Kitsune says it will be 5 - 6 weeks. Looking forward to hearing such a great DAC.

What streamers are you all using with the May? I have an Auralic Aries G2, which I’m happy with. I’m just curious what others are using.

Lumin U1 usb into Matrix x-spdif I2S into May.
Server is Nucleus +, usb cable is the ChordMusic (expensive but better than the Shunyata Omega in my system), hdmi cable is the RAL.
My path is May w/included USB cable < Up gateway SoC NAA <Ethernet <HQPe PC <Roon
My brother’s co-worker CF is getting the Lumin Mini for his May. It is similar to my Esoteric which use the same software and should sound really good. I will also recommend the Nucleus+ for his music. I should sell him my RAL and get my second Dragon for my DMP. The RAL is still better than most cables out there.
Don’t you also have the NEW Ps SACD Transport ?

If you’re looking to sell your RAL HDMI let me know. Love to purchase the cable but don’t want to wait 8 months to get it. Sent them an email and asked them how long it would take to ship - they never got back. I guess this is a side job for them.
I seem to remember someone much earlier in this forum that had compared both the Diamond and the WireWorld Platinum S7 and preferred the WW. The RAL is much better than the WW which was the best before the RAL.
@dawkinsj NUC 8th gen (running w10 pro + usb3.0 portable drive for music)- Cardas clear usb into the Holo (PLL on- it sounds much worse without the PLL for this setup). Jriver and JRemote to access files, (fyi- My Holo won’t lock onto the TV’s optical in PLL mode).
Will let you know otherwise, but CF already asked for this cable.

CF is my brother’s co-worker. Everybody calls him CF like JD as in Kelvin Durant.
CF is getting back into high end audio and building his system from scratch. He had a pair of ESP Concert Grands and a pair of Reval Gems speakers that are no longer working. He is looking for maybe like a pair of Wilsons Sashas for replacement. He really surprised me when he made a fantastic deal on an Esoteric Grandioso C1 preamp from Audiogon. He wants to get into streaming and playing files which he never did before and is asking me for advice.
CF is also looking for a good transport to play all his CDs which is why he asked about the Jay Audio transport and the PS Audio PST which I believe @Phil says is fantastic with his May. CF also is waiting for his May to arrive. He was told maybe 4 to 6 weeks. I advice him definitely go for the PST which can play SACDs also.
