Hello everyone -

I am looking to purchase the DS Jr and DST. Was going to start with the DS Jr and then follow up with the DST once I a comfortable with the Jr.

  1. Silver or Black. For those who have seen them which do you prefer?

  2. I have been reading through the forums about various issues. Pops, ticks, noises and so on. I would ultimately plan to use the two units with I2S and very little streaming with a large collection of SACD and red book discs. Any concerns here?

  3. For those that have the display issues with the DST - is this wide spread? Will there be a definitive fix for this? Same question for art work slowness on the display.

by DST do you mean DMP (CD/SACD) transport?

I have DS-and, DMP, BHK-pre, BHK Monoblocks in silver. I prefer the colour but it is a personal matter. Plus how it fits with the rest of your system / decor. Doesn’t matter to performance.

Re pops/clicks etc - you may/may not experience so much - again system dependent. If you do experience it you can reduce the volume to lessen/remove. There will be a fix sometime I’m sure.

  1. Personal preference, really. I have three of the components in silver and I would say that they don’t look quite as bright/shiny as they look in the photos on the PSA website (they probably photograph them under high intensity lights) — in other words, a touch more gray than silver. I like the look of the silver; the black would be similar to other audio components that you have probably seen in this color.

  2. When you make a transition from playing a PCM to a DSD file, you will probably hear a soft tick. The volume depends partly on the interconnects you use. I personally don’t think this is a problem, although some people seem to find it more distracting.

  3. I haven’t experienced this.

Hello and welcome... I use the DS/DMP combo strictly for redbook cd with some sacd spinning with no operating issues so far. My DMP does suffer from the “coursing wave of brightness” though. Hoping for a fix soon,it is an annoying bug that needs squished asap.

DSJ is quite good at streaming. I never used the Bridge until the Spotify Connect update. I hardly listen to CD any more. You should give streaming a try.
