We had home theater system in the living room for years and my wife always hated it. After I retired I offered to remove the home theater and give her freedom to completely redo that room if she would agree to move our bedroom to the guest room and give me the master bedroom for both home theater and my music system. Not ideal for the two channel system but completely worth it to finally have my own space. Works great for the both of us.
Quite the compromise! It’ll be interesting to know what all that freedom looks like.
That’s a pretty awesome trade-off. I mean, you get your own space to jam out, and she gets to rework the living room however she wants.
Wasn’t cheap however. All new furniture for the living room. I was secretly adding it all up and fantasizing how I could have used the funds for my system but a win win in the end.
I have my own floor. Basement actually. Big windows to the outside though. I do share it with a bunny. Three full systems down here. My favorite is whichever one I am listening to, whenever….
Right now using the good stuff. Damn! It seems nice.
Sometimes the best setups come from thinking outside the box, and it sounds like you turned a challenge into a win for both of you. I think more people should realize how much of a game-changer it is to have a dedicated space for music and home theater.
I think if I didn’t have that big TV screen between my speakers I would explore adding some diffusion there. My wife did make a fabric cover to slip over the screen when not in use and that does help.
