Interesting. When I heard that song and album I thought he meant corporations.
Gary, might I suggest you go ahead and ignore this thread? We are all eating ice cream and you are telling us to stop. This isn’t for you.
Oh! Oh! On topic!
I will never buy any new Grand Funk albums since they kicked Mark Farner out! I love Mel and Don, but please. There is only one Mark Farner. ( and a member of the Buttholes Surfers named his Dog Mark Farner)

Just wondering/asking for a friend, do people buy much more music of the artists that do the right thing socially/culturally/environmentally/politically/etc?
A bunch of old darts like us?
Probably not.
Young ‘uns still forming opinions (both musical and otherwise)?
Rather more likely.
But what do I know? I’m an old dart
I can’t speak for ‘people’. Me? No. Strickly about the music and I don’t want to get into the fact one person’s ‘right thing’ socially/culturally/environmentally/politically may be another person’s ‘wrong thing’. Which is exactly why I separate all of that from enjoyment of music.
Grand Funk Railroad – Homer Simpson’s favorite band!
Any band that name-checks Freddie King in a song is okay in my book.
Up all night with Freddie King
I got to tell you, poker’s his thing
I think his work on Boz Skaggs’ “Loan Me a Dime” is it. Have listened to it maybe a 100 times and still hear subtle nuances.
I am 71 and for me, the answer is no.
I imagine there’s some percentage that do, but I don’t get the sense that the majority of US citizens vote with their wallets.
Interesting question … recently, I streamed part of an album by Zach Bryan, an artist I might not otherwise have listened to, because the album title caught my attention and I agree with the sentiment:
I’m weird like that, with movies and music, I won’t buy it or even preview it if I don’t agree with that persons values and morals.
I’ve still never watched Titanic because of the damage Cameron caused to the Titanic
There are a lot of music artists who I refuse to buy any of their stuff, neither have I knowingly listened to it out of choice.
I hate my scruples some times, but I hate to endorse something I don’t agree with.
Plus you get to avoid that awful song, as well as the awful movie
oh man… and here I thought I was all alone in thinking that movie was awful. I made it about 20 mins in before turning it off
It was as bad as Avatar, and that’s saying something.
The scenes showing the scale of the actual ship are quite good, but by the time you see them you have already lost the ability to focus
Ha! I checked out of Avatar when they first said “unobtanium”
indeed. drivel of the highest order. nice tech to make it of course, but that doesn’t excuse it
Paul Simon seems nice. He was married to Carrie Fisher.
Worse and better things could happen.
I liked Avatar, back when it was called Dances with Wolves. The new one sucked and required goggles.
Antman now. I like Antman. But 3D? Na.
Wait, maybe……
