Inexpensive Tube Tester Recommendation

Can some please recommend an inexpensive tube tester…thanks

Define inexpensive

I own a TV-7 A/U circa 1955. My brother built it for me using a couple of bad ones he had bought for next to nothing. The Stock TV-7 A/U is finicky on small signal novel tubes like 6DJ8, 6922. Mine has been modified to address that.

A TV-7 D/U is a more current version and considerably less finicky. Here’s one on eBay, and it actually looks pretty clean. Much nicer cosmetically than mine.

Look around on eBay and a lot of tube sellers will tell you what they are using to test their tubes. Here’s a site that has some good tube tester info. Some of the antique radio sites have guys that know a lot about tubes and vintage equipment.

Great info…I was looking to spend $400 to $500. Looks like I might have to go a little bit higher.

A tube tester is worth having. I’ve bought tubes from “tube guys” and received some duds, including shorted ones. If you need a good source of tubes at fair prices, check out Ersc1. I’ve bought from them a few times. Purchased over three dozen tubes there and got one marginal tube which was promptly replaced.
