My current bedtime reading.
If you have the time to watch, last May, Dutch online audio magazine Alpha audio organised a live test of 3 high end streamers:- MSB Discrete, NAIM ND555 + PS555 and Grimm MU-1. All tests were done using Grimm and Grimm Audio LS1be speakers. Mola Mola Tambaqui was used in conjunction Grimm MU1 because it has no analogue output.
The line from the article that resonated for me was,
“But 15 years is a long time in technology and retail.”
After that I found it hard to concentrate. But I will admit having that issue generally and lately in particular.
Several good points regarding Record Store Day, an event that creates demand. As the writer suggests many novelty items, with a focus on colored vinyl and releases of dubious merit have plagued recent RSD events. The more recent lost vault treasure item fad are a a cross between over hyping the performance merit and all out fiction. Early on some undiscovered gems were unearthed. Time to return to normalcy with a focus on quality current performances and a quality vinyl product metered out on a regular basis versus a circus event. Local record stores were more than a little disgruntled with RSD items being withdrawn last minute.
Sad day.
I like the sound of “vinyl pressing”. And if they get the offering pulled together with a stable API, it would be nice to see Bandcamp music available through Roon or other streaming appliances.
I will remain hopeful until I see otherwise.
RIP Ron Miles. Had no idea until I read it on the Jazz thread.
