R.I.P. Tina Turner
A nice tribute.
A significant talent we lost much too soon.
An older article (8 months ago) but a good one
Nice take on music played at hifi shows bears repeating, quoting David Chesky:
Chesky made clear his preference for the acoustic stuff:
– Much high end music sounds like a Jackson Pollock painting: It’s an artificial aesthetic, it’s not trying to reproduce reality. That’s ok. But I come from the Vermeer school. I like acoustic music, I like organic sound.
I liked this quote:
Who in their right mind plays Ella Fitzgerald performed by Claire Teal when you can play Ella Fitzgerald?
Exactly…
I knew most all in that article, and have been afraid to watch the documentary. I will soon though.
John Darko had mentioned this in his most recent video. He was very impressed by it also.
Non partisan - the point is no mainstream politicians (or indeed many regular folks) get the point that if you keep your people struggling to work enough hours just to eat or be housed, there will be no new musical or artistic innovations from them, leaving only the (usually generationally) well-off the time and resources to create new art.
Did that jazz generation ever sleep?
Coltrane, Davis……….
Rumors have been circulating for a while. Nice to know it’s official, but orange vinyl cheapens it IMHO. Wouldn’t it be nice to have it get the Acoustic Sounds or Kevin Gray Cohearant treatment on proper black vinyl? Regardless nice to see such an important performance see the light of day. I believe the release is scheduled for July 14.
I ordered the cd.
