Hi guys and @Paul,
Just got a P300 and, since it´s 20 to 25 years old, I want to recap it.
But I got a question, should I recap just the 3300uF on the power supply or should I recap all the electrolitics, since they are all the same age ?
Any suggestions for a lower ESR cap than the Nichicon´s ?
Thanks guys
All electrolytics benefit from replacement panasonic frs can get the job done
I just finished the recap using the same Nichicon but instead of 3300uF I upgraded them to 4700uF.
The original big caps were already bulged and my first impressions after the recap is that the bass is tighter and the multiwave settings are more noticiable.
Now the unit is running noticeably hotter. Will try to perform a bias adjustment according to the PSAudio service manual.
Bias Adjustment: R17 & R18 (located on the main board) – These are the channel bias
adjustments. Turning them clockwise will lower the bias. There is no precise adjustment
for these, just turn them all the way down (clockwise) and then back just a small amount
(maybe 1/8th of a turn). We do this to keep the heat at a minimum. NOTE: NOT ALL
UNITS HAVE THIS ADJUSTMENT. The bias is fixed on later models.
