I realized that I do not have a serious collection of live recordings, which is a shame, so please list your favourites. So I can do some shopping…

Puh - with that question I just realized that most all of my favorite albums are not live recordings… Anyhow, here a list of some of my long-time favs:

Peter Gabriel “Plays Live” has been been a favorite ever since I bought it over 30 years ago (!).

Here are my some of faves, in no particular order

  • Allman Bros - Live at Fillmore East
  • Grateful Dead - Dicks Picks Vol 15 - Englishtown NJ 1977
  • Little Feat - Waiting for Columbus
  • Grateful Dead - Sunshine Daydream
  • Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense
  • Grateful Dead - Europe '72 (the entire box set)

The best live recording is “Live at Sluggs’” by Music, Inc. on Strata East Records ! The personnel are : Charles Tolliver, Stanley Cowell, Jimmy Hopps, and Cecil McBee !
