Any progress in your search @rossop ?

I seen some kinda of speaker that had open backed speakers in it. It was some kinda kit. And I think a European company . As I do not understand the design and the overall benefits or trade off,s . They do look good though .

Hi Rossop,

As a biased owner, you could do worse than the Dynaudio Confidence C1 Mk II. I noticed you said you liked Dynaudio speakers. I am in the same boat, also using Contour 1.3 Mk. II and Audience 42’s in the 2nd and 3rd system.

Only problem with a speaker change is you will inevitably end up with different amplification

I started off with Musical Fidelity A3.2 integrated but whilst I like this amp, the C1’s can and do sound so much better with serious amplification.

I tried a number of amps in home demonstration including the Audio Research REF 75 and Bryston 4BSST.

The Octave V80 with SBB was clearly the best match of those I tried.

Amp and speaker synergy is something I have found difficult to achieve with out a lot of time and research.

I would tend to choose speakers first and amp second as speakers tend to have much larger differences in sonic signature and are much more likely to influence the overall sound of your system.

If your room (and better half) can take them, I also like the Confidence C2’s.

Cheers,

Chris

Still full of Christmas Cheer but it would seem I would need a power amp change if I went to, say the Dynaudio's Chris likes.

Dynaudios are excellent, wonderful suggestion.

They also happen to be a popular studio speaker.

May I suggest Nora . Baby grand or grand .

Nola sorry typo …

Very interesting

Dynaudios like a lot of power and, as far as I know, have only one set of binding posts which rules out my current bi-amp setup.

@rossop you are right, all Dyns have only 1 set of binding posts.
