Been looking at getting a pair of FR-5’s, kinda waiting for a good used deal, but saw these on TMR site for under $2k. Look like a similar concept to the FR-5’s. Anyone know about these speakers?
I had the previous version with the beryllium/copper dome tweeter. I pluses about them was they had great bass and the cabinet finish is very good. Sound wise they weren’t my cup of tea, warm sounding and the imaging was just ok. At that time I had a Schitt Freya preamp and a pair of their Aegir mono amps. One note I will say is they sucked the life out of the amps and made them go into protect very easily. I ended up sending them back and replaced them with a pair of Fyne Audio speakers.
I recently had a pair of the FR5 and there isn’t any scenario where I would take the LSA over the PS Audio. Of course that’s just my opinion but in all things related to the sound of the FR5, it easily surpasses the LSA.
