Today I went on a Magico factory tour with Alon Wolf as host. The factory is 43 miles from my house in Hayward, Ca., so it took only 40 min. to get there. Alon put together a system for us to listen to comprising of the latest Magico S5 speakers ($75k a pair). Alon put in herculean efforts in killing every resonance and vibration of every part and using the highest quality parts available on his speakers and it shows. The speakers just disappears and with such extraordinary resolution. Of cource they use digital, Wadax server and cd player I believe. Sorry, I’m a LP guy and the sound didn’t impress me as much as it should. I actually like my system more with the PS MK2 as it didn’t sound as digital as the Wadax. Organic is what I’m after, which just makes the singing voices sound more human with personality than artificial. Anyway, I think the Magico S5 has good potential and matched with the right equipment, it will blow your sox off, yes they are exceptionally good speakers.
Here are some pictures of the tour.
The M9 is a monster.
M9 speakers - 1000lbs each
MXO crossover - 40lbs each
MXO crossover power supply - 60lbs each
Price - 3/4 of a million dollars pair.
The price is a little out there imo. $765,000 M9 vs. $420,000 MBL extremes vs. Vivid Moya $465,000
I’m going to stick with my ML CLX’s for now.
@waymanchen11 you have caused me to spend money on music, but somehow I think I can easily say no to these speakers
One guy at the tour has the A5’s and ask Elon Wolf what the difference would be if he went up to the S series and Elon told him mainly the upper line of speakers can move more air which can change the bass performance and presentation and make the sound more at ease as the volume goes up. I don’t believe you have to move as much air as these big boys can do to really enjoy your music. It’s mostly for show only.
Speaking of music, here’s a couple of really nice recordings from HDTT. Hurry, today is last day of 20% off sale.
I enjoy my pair of air movers with my speakers!!
So I understand the concept.
The Magico Factory Tour really was the worst Beatles album.
I’ll see myself out.
