No, it’s quite the opposite. Your amp won’t have to work as hard sending the signal though a larger gauge wire than it would a smaller one. If you were to ever visit a high end audio show, you would see lots of speaker cables that are the diameter of garden hoses.

I bought Blue Jeans Cables 10-gauge for my .7s. The bare wire fits the post perfectly, although I probably should have bought banana terminations to avoid corrosion with bare copper. Happy with them and a great price, but I don’t mess with expensive cables in general, so cant really compare them to others.
