MK2-Airlens-SConnect volume setting

Folks: now with SConnect up and running I was wondering about previous discussions with MK1 regarding volume level on the MK1 vs. pre-amp.

@tedsmith had suggested 90 (or 92) for his preferred MK1 fixed setting and then controlled listening level via the pre-amp.

Any thoughts on what the new SConnect combo should be? Or is SConnect and MK2 a different animal altogether?

Thanks, Dave

The maximum S/N for the Mk II is at 100. Which number might be best in a given system will depend more on the type of music and other devices in the system, but 100 is probably the best setting for the Mk II.

All our systems in the factory with Pre’s in them dac volume is set to 100.

Thanks fellas. But this really negates the advantage of SConnect. For my listening I will go to 100/pre-amp combo. Maybe when using for background or guests I can utilize the SConnect more (i.e. set pre-amp and use MKII volume control)

Dave

SConnect is really a feature to be used without a Pre. You can always try out a few settings and levels and let us know! In our sales office, I have a MK2 and an Airlens on a StellarGold Pre. I use SConnect to turn down the volume when we start getting high call volumes. It’s a really nice thing to change directly from my desktop Roon controller. For raw performance, we always keep our dac’s pinned at 100 with pres.
