I tried to sell my DS Dac II to The Music Room and received the following reply:
âUnfortunately, we will have to pass on the PS Audio DirectStream DAC Mk2 for right now. We are currently holding about six monthsâ worth of stock on that model, with even more already inbound to us. Until we sell through some of our existing inventory, we just canât bring any more in.â
Trade ins will always saturate the market around PS Audio launch time. Can you imagine how little of the $3000 credit PS Audio recuperates by sending the used MKIIs to to TMR?
Put it on US Audiomart⊠Iâm sure if you price it wellâŠit would fetch more than what TMR would give you for it!
TMR is asking $4200 - $4700 for the DS2, they have 4 currently online
Donât forget TMR takes 35% on consignment. Better to trade in to PS.
Never been that high for me. 30% worst case. 25% best. But depending on the piece, that adds up fastâŠ.
4600 subtract 25% is 3450. They probably do ok.
Good point and true for now, letâs see where they are after they run through their â6 month supplyâ - the resale price will surely drop. Thinking about other trade-ins like BHK Pre or the Stellar Phono which have a lower resale value already. On TMR the BHK Pre goes for $2900ish currently. Stellar Phono goes for $1199 as I recall.
I sold mine for 3000. And it took a bit. I may have been able to wait and get more but I knew TMR would have theirs and others were up for sale around same. I had plenty of of banked money with psaudio so I used 2250 from that which was max allowed. Plus the 3000 and starting price of 8500. Sold my rose too. So in end I did have some left over. Now waiting game again. Replacement has been shipped. 2 day turn around. Not bad.
@weedeewop Thanks for the response. I wonât purchase anything again from a manufacturer that doesnât support it the first time I have an issue. I will say this ; I have and have had numerous PS Audio gear in my system & I can think of only one time I had an issue & it was lack of knowledge on my part & they addressed it immediately.
I bailed on the Mk2 early in favor of the Grimm MU2, long before the PMG products were announced at AXPONA. I also sold my BHK and my Airlens and all attendant cabling at the same time.

Thatâs strange that you had issues with SVS Tech Support. They were great with me a few years ago. I bought 4 SB-2000 Subs (no BT) and thought that one of the plate Amps died after barely 6 months use.
They sent me a new plate Amp - No questions asked ! The problem was my Onkyo PR-SC5530 needed a factory hard reset using a pushbutton sequence on the front panel which I found out on my own after the replacement plate Amp made no difference. Proving that the problem wasnât my Sub but elsewhere (The Onkyo). Once I did the hard reset and everything came back to normal. I call SVS and offered to return to them the plate Amp at my own expense. They said to keep it in case I ever needed a spare. Still in the drawer 2 years later !
@weedeewop Sorry man, that you had so many issues with PSA Support. My experience has been the reverse in the 6 years Iâve been a customer of both used still under warranty and used no warranty left PSA products.
If I could afford the PMG Preamp and DAC. I would ! In the meantime Iâm still enjoying my factory refreshed 11+ year old (according the the serialâs) of my PSA DS MK1 DSD DAC & MK1 Perfectwave Universal Transport. The Stellar Phono Preamp served me well but now that Iâm a DS Audio owner. The Stellar and my Two Cartâs were sent off to TMR Audio and they via Musicall Surroundings got me a great deal on a DS003 Cartridge and my built the DIY Phono Preamp according to their schematic on their website.
Paulâs Videoâs Iâve been watching like a Crack Addict since 09/2017 drank the Kool-Aid on 04/2019 (Stellar Stack followed by a 3rd M700 and a S350), and read the book (hilarious and 99% True).
Yes, ALL my PSA devices whether they were under warranty or not had to be serviced either because of something I did or there was no fault found (cabling issue 
). So asked them to give my DAC a once over and later the Transport. The displays and HDMI connectors replaced. Already 10 years old at the time !

With the first 25 PMG 512 DACs shipped by last week, thought weâd see more comments from early adopters by now. Looking forward to more impressions being shared on its sonic performance. 
am excited for my PMG DAC to arrive after the first batchâs hiccups are ironed out, but think i should stop reading the posts re the industrial base plate - seems to interfere with my actual PSA experiences which always lead to massive sonic improvements and best bang for buck head nodsâŠ..
Relatively few PS Audio customers are on this forum.
I realize itâs probably a small percentage of overall customers, but thought there would be more early adopters participating here.
Iâm somewhat surprised that the new PMG products did not receive the benefit of a beta test phase like their predecessors.
If Iâm mistaken, and there was a beta phase, it certainly wasnât highly publicized or discussed in these forums. In contrast, reading feedback from beta users on the AirLens and DSD MK2 DAC were informative prior to full release.
It would be fun to have more immediate reactions, but I expect there will be a trickle rather than a flood.
