Movies and Sprout

A great simple solution.

Ok so the KanexPro… seems very well built for the price. Got it set up running the hdmi from the bluray to the kanex then switched it to a coax to the sprout. Audio clarity is perfect BUT it sounds so faint. There’s no volume. The Bluray is set on PCM. Is the issue that the movie must have a two channel audio option to work? Like I said the clarity is fine but the sound just doesn’t hit you like it should.

I never had a volume issue, try a few different discs. I imagine that the Pioneer plays CDs, try those, and the little button on Kanex. I know one way didn’t work, if I recall.

I removed mine, because between the PWT and my PC, I don’t use the Oppo much anymore, it seemed silly to have it on 24/7 for not much use.

I also have four digital inputs, and six analog inputs on my preamp. Your Sprout is more limited.

One thing, you do have it plugged in to the wallwart? It does need to be powered up.

Ya the Kanex is powered up (plugged in). I’m digging through the collection to find some movies with 2 ch but striking out so far. And ya I switched the Kanex to the 2 channel setting. Just got my audioquest 3.5 to rca today for the sub so may try it from the bluray for comparison

Well, whatever the issue was the latest Jason Bourne movie solved it. My house is shaking during action scenes at right around 1/2 volume. I’m still running 5.1 DTS from the disc option but the Kanex seems to be turning it over to 2.1 really well. The audio is crystal clear. Guy just pulled back the slide on his gun and sounded like it was right in the room. Sound I know well. Lol

Very good

Good news.
