Music Server/Streamer w/ Access at Vacation Property

I could use a lot of advice on approaches for setting my first music server. I’m pretty ignorant in this area and don’t really know what I am doing or if what I want is even a realistic possibility.

My current cheap streamer will go to the vacation home, while the new streamer and server will be in my home listening room. I’m assuming a separate server and streamer will be needed for this but thought I would put this together since I don’t actually know and am currently looking for both. Below is a list of what I’m looking for.

  • Budget of ~$3500 combined for server and streamer
  • 2GB or ideally more
  • Stored files up to DSD256 to feed PSA DSD MK1 hopefully via I2S or I would like a way to impove USB if USB to DAC is required.
  • Apple/iOS
  • Access in my listening room but also at a vacation property shared with family in another state(as long as that is legal)
  • Ability to have someone at the vacation house listing to music from the server while I also listen to my system at home simaltanously.(As long as this is legal. I’m not looking to open up to the public but don’t want my system to have issues if my father in law starts playing something at the vacation home.)

Any advice or recommendations? Thanks.

I have a similar situation except that the second location is close enough that it is more of a retreat than a vacation home. Have been using ROON at both locations without issues. However, to use at both locations at the same time, you need two licenses. I have just one and that requires that I deauthorize the other location. ROON can handle delivering you dedicated stored files to the other location but I have not bothered. I use Qobuz and the content is rich enough that I can do without my dedicated music at one of the locations. Of course, you will need two ROON servers which lets me compare a Nucleus with a Mac mini (the mini is noticeably but tolerably slower). Now Maestro may be the ultimate solution when Paul gets all the pieces up and sort of working.
