My review of the PMG Signature Preamplifier

Absolutely the P20 would do. It’s what I am driving them with.

Darren left “10 years” of designs with us and we learned a great deal that we’re able to carry forward. Plus, he’s right around the corner and still a loved member of the PS Family that we routinely interact with. Plus, as I mentioned in an earlier post, aside from our long time head of engineering, Bob Stadtherr (and our long-time guru Doug Goldberg), we’re blessed to have a new and rising star coming up through the ranks and being groomed, Peter. You’ll hear more about Peter as we move forward.

A new wonderkid named Peter? I like him already! Paul, I’m assuming the 200 stereo amp will be at AXPONA, how about the monos? I bet the Beast is still a ways out …

New PMG preamplifier owner here, I have about 40 hours on it so far, just wondering what other owners think about how long it takes to fully burn in?

A good 150 hours or so. A worthwhile wait for sure.

Nice review by Rogier Van Bakel from Stereophile. I like his writing style and he seems to think it’s not half bad. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

James!

Really nice, warm harted review!

Very nice. Congratulations to Paul & Co.

I’ve lost track of the hours on mine but my system is singing beautifully with it. Very worthwhile upgrade.

I’m hoping to upgrade my BHK Pre to the PMG by the end of the year.

A humorous anecdote to share: LG TVs and the BHK Pre share some IR codes, but I didn’t know that until recently! I’m using a sofabaton universal/programmable remote control to handle my system. I dwell in a small condominium, so my 2-channel speakers and my home theater share the same room. A few times when using one or the other, strange things would happen…

One time in particular, I was listening to the 2-channel system, and was temporarily in another room, but carrying the sofabaton remote control with me, and adjusting volume as I moved around. The LG TV came on, and since it’s connected by HDMI to a Marantz Pre/Pro (and the Marantz has a trigger cable going to a Krell multichannel amp for the home theater), HDMI CEC came into play, activating the entire home theater speaker system. It started playing back some streaming channel on the LG TV, at a VERY loud volume on the home theater speakers…:worried: :face_with_peeking_eye:

For a moment, I wondered if I had an intruder or a hacker…or was haunted

A great big SORRY to my neighbors, but I slowly started to figure out what was going on.

Are the remote codes for the new PMG Pre the same as for the BHK? It doesn’t change my purchase decision…it just made me install a smart outlet for my LG TV so I could cut its power at will when I want to listen to the 2-channel system
