You guys, cables are all nonsense designed to bilk you out of large sums of money.
Do know what fishing lures are designed to catch? Fishermen in stores.
Don’t be fooled!!

Yes that is very true!
Relying on the comparative analysis of the initiator of this post, I have just ordered a Muon2 USB cable.
It will be connected to an Innuos Phoenix. I could compare it to a Sablon Evo.
And depending on which one I prefer, it will be connected upstream or downstream of the Innuos.
So curious to read your comments as soon as you compare them.
Thanks.

“tempus” – Precision Ultra Low Noise Ethernet Switch
I heard about it in a product announcement e-mail I received.
It certainly looks capable.*
Hoping someone will give it a go and report back; as I have just dipped my toes in the water with the acquisition of an EtherRegen LAN Isolator/switch.
Cheers
*And it comes in silver.
I gots 2 git me one of these!
($4K though, yikes!)
I like the number of ports it has. I have a lot of LAN devices in my AV system.
I have two, 5-port switches (one is a Paul Pang modified standard switch and one is an off-the-shelf switch) and a GigaFoil LAN Isolator currently daisy-chained together with a pair of media converters strung between the switches. Each of these devices are powered by iFi wall warts.
A single device that can offer the benefits of the GigaFoil, media converters and iFi power supplies to all networked kit would be nice.
As you know, the EtherRegen I am adding to the system only serves a maximum of 4 devices (5 if you use the available fiber optic connection).
You are only supposed to use one of the four ports at a time. I use all four.
???
I thought the “moat” benefit is limited to the output to one device on the “B” side when set up nominally but the switch otherwise works to serve up to three devices on the “A” side.
I am currently not using the B side. It used to be for my Grimm MU1 but with the MUON Pro 2 System I need gigabit ports, not 100mb ports. So I am just using mine as a switch until I get something better. Something better might be the new Muon Switch.
I just received the Muon2 USB cable.
Very fast service from Rob. The cable was very well packaged.
Currently, I have a Sablon Evo cable upstream of L’Innuos and an Oyaide Continental cable downstream.
The Muon 2 for burning-in will take the place of the Oyaide. And once I’m used to it, I’ll swap the Sablon Evo and the Muon 2 so that I can compare them fairly.
To burn in the cable I use the JEAN-MARIE REYNAUD MAGIC CD, it is supposed to speed up the burning in but I don’t know if it works for digital…
Just a little test of curiosity.
The Oyaide cable is far behind: quieter cable, softer treble, more contoured bass and better timbres.
The Muon2 is just a little less “liquid” but that’s completely normal, it has almost no burn-in…
With the burn-in, I think it will be a very good cable.
Let it settle for a week. My experience has been that the new cables (digital and analog) will sound a lot better after one week (some take longer). Enjoy!
That’s what I think too but as curiosity was very strong I did a “cold” listening.
Now that it’s done, I could wait in a Zen way.
I agree with you, curiosity has always pushed me to make a first impression just out of the box. The new toy can definitely get better after a while, but if I really don’t like it as soon as I start listening to it… oh, I don’t like it anymore.
Life is too short! This applies to music, sound, food, wine… and all things that Involve the senses.
Well said!
Include cars, motorcycles, watches, whatever else you happen to like that makes you smile when using it and helps to forget about the pressures of the day…
My experience has always been that you get an idea, maybe 80-90%, of how a cable will sound directly out of the box for the first few hours. Then things tend to go downhill, followed by slow improvements with hills & valleys along the way, depending on the specific item. Then finally, just after you’ve been cremated and your ashes spread, your cable finishes its long burn in and sounds glorious for the rest of eternity.
For the original Muon USB it was around 200 hours, and not too dramatic along the way.
To be honest, I sometimes suspect that the break-in period ends just when a new toy catches my attention, just like a baby! This is the most fun part of this hobby, always running, always moving towards something… through countless hours of music that I love.
I don’t miss that. My system has not had a significant new thing added since I bought the BACCH-SP. Some real fancy subwoofer cables for the subs I mostly don’t use. That BACCH purchase just calmed me down. Just listening is deeply rewarding. Unless I can find a good deal on some Martin Logan CLX speakers, I might be on end game speakers. The Vivids are right for me.
So gosh.
Edit! Oh wait. I got the MUON Pro 2 setup on my Grimm. That was a shock how the noise floor vanished. I didn’t previously know I had noise. It created a sound like anti-noise. Like false, amplified Blackness. It was unnerving. But I got used to it.
There is still hope for you Al. Glad the MUON Pro 2 knocked some sense into you…
