Now if I could just get rid of this EtherREGEN!!!
I read somewhere that two ER’s are better than one.
Maybe we could work something out.
I hate it when you suffer.
Your breaking period is in years, not days like normal souls here.
Small update on the evolution of the Muon 2 USB cable. It is almost halfway through the break-in stage, 70 hours of use.
He won on all registers and especially the natural one. It provides pleasant, balanced and fluid listening.
On the other hand, it is not a linear process. Between 40 and 60 hours there were moments of regression but once past it progresses…
After 170 hours of “cooking”, the cable is at the end of the break-in period.
The test was done in the following context : Zidoo neo signature to an Innuos Phoenix USB to a Rockna Signature Dac. The other USB cable is a Sabon Evo which is a very good cable often compared to a Shunyata Omega. Innuos advises putting the best cable between it and the Streamer. So I tested the Muon2 and the Sablon there.
The best result was obtained with the Muon2 in this place.
I don’t have Luca.pelliccioli’s talent for analyzing a cable, I’m going to stick to the general impressions : more silence, more naturalness, more presence, more robust bass and very superior focus.
In conclusion, the Muon2 cable is an excellent USB cable at a reasonable price compared to the competition.
I like mine a lot. The silence was noticeable and took a little while to get used to.
I know you had the Muon Pro (filter + ethernet cable), so you purchased the Muon 2 USB cable, too.
Oh, are we talking about USB cables? Never mind me then. No, I didn’t try it.
It’s easy to lose track of where we are now that the in-the-thread title has disappeared.
Update on the Muon2 USB cable, I decided to buy a second one so that the input and output of the Innuos Phonix USB cable is identical. This second Muon 2 cable replaces a Sablon Evo output from the Innuos.
I must admit that at first I had doubts because I heard somewhat metallic sounds. As the running-in progressed, they decreased but not entirely.
I cut the 2 small thermo sheaths at each end of the cable. This brought an improvement but it was not as natural as with Sablon.
That’s when I had the idea to change the placement of the speakers. And there the naturalness returned with better focus. I found the qualities of the Muon2: silence, naturalness and presence.
It’s still quite curious how a cable that only carries 0 and 1 can change the sound to the point of modifying the location of the speakers.
Just as curious why FPGA firmware updates to a DAC like DS MK 1 and 2 also require adjustments to speakers and sometimes cables.
