Your question is too complicated for me. I thought the router/NAS should be connected to the DATA zone only. The 1G SFP at the Audio Zone means to be connected to a streamer that has a SFP connector. Are you asking if it would work connecting differently?
I believe the intention is the Audio Zone is for cleaned-up output
Alvin’s 10 unit is the SW-10 Pro; as far as I know, Aliexpress does not sell this…it is a proprietary brand of Vinshine-LHY
That is where I bought mine, and there should be a menu inside. I am not sure actually.
sorry my first coffee kicking in …
In Summary if you want to connect thru SFP to the switch and have both zones running you have to connect into the Audio zone - only way because they isolate backwards from the data zone
what i want to know is if i connect thru sfp thru the audio zone (only way) what speeds am i getting in the data zone ? mainly as they label it a 1GB SFP
Can i internally disconnect the zones and run two sfps to the switch ?
@akro you are correct they took the A8pro and got LHY to Mod it they are identical switches and operation is the same
@dchang05 Yep the Manual is on there site but interesting doesn’t go into SFP connections
Re NAS definitely data zone need speed my test was just to see if i got any benefit bypassing all my ubiquti switches
manual is at https://www.vinshine.audio/_files/ugd/4b933e_68c4ded995714d0d84f79cb7e6caa4d3.pdf
No mention of SFP connection at all, interesting. You may want to ask Alvin yourself and he should be able to answer you directly. In the past, he had answered my question even though I was not a customer yet.
Seems nice…
If you connect the AS 8-pro via the Datazone (Router/NAS/Computers) for input and through the Isolated audio zone for output, then you no longer need an SFP because the isolation is handled internally through the SFP connection.
That’s the idea, isn’t it?
Or am I seeing this incorrectly?
Yellow SFP connection:
I believe you are correct.
That’s was the reason why I purchased SW-10 Pro to replace my SW-10/FO/SW-6 combo. It will be crazy if I still need SW-6 to achieve better result.
Mine is scheduled to deliver today, and I am going to rearrange my rack this morning.
I’m very curious about your findings regarding the combo.
and a disappointment
internal FMC should better external FMC…unless the ‘extra’ SW or AS switch adds more filtering/isolation
The unit will take a few days to settle in, and after that I really hope I’ll hear an improvement.
Even if I don’t I achieve my downsizing goal😁
This will be interesting.
I’m currently running a Cisco 2960 into the AS6.
I’m debating whether to buy another AS6 to replace the Cisco, or could an AS8-Pro or SW10-Pro replace the Cisco and AS6?
If you buy another, AS-8 or 10 pro will be a more meaningful upgrade, I believe. Of course I don’t know how much better SW10 pro will be compared to what I have now until the end of June, and I will not know if it’s better than AS8 at all.
My SW-10 Pro will be arriving within the next hour. But I’m not home!
I’m waiting for a flat tire repair (unknown if it’s repairable because it’s a large screw). The tire is only two day old😮
Can anybody take the delivery for you?
I had to get a new tyre myself yesterday. Luckily I was working close to a tyre place.
UPS changed to 7pm now, so I am okay.
The two-day old tire was deemed unrepairable. Here is a flat tire education:
If you have zero pressure, do not continue driving the car, because the rim will damage the inner rubber that more than likely cannot be repaired. I only drove 1000 feet from home before I turned around and went home. But it was too late already.
The new tire is more easily get flat tire because the nail or bolt is more easily trapped inside the deep thread. So, do not drive through the construction zones when you have new tires.
That’s good news on the delivery.
The inside of my tyre was totally shot. It was flat like a pancake and I drove about 300m on it before I knew what the problem was. I initially thought it was the wheel bearing as I could hear that rubbing noise. Pulled in at a garage and could get air into it. Luckily they managed to get a spare out by courier in 30 minutes.
So just closing of my SFP thing - Spoke to LHY and have the answer
For SFP connecting to this unit
- if you connect SFP to the data side it 10GB which becomes a max of 4 x 2.5gb in the data zone Audio Zone will not fire up
- if you connects SFP to the audio zone - audio zone is active and in the data zone 4x1GBs becomes active
- if you CAT cable into the data zone 3 x 2.5Gb and the audio zone becomes active
I listen to CAT v SFP and for me SFP wins easily for me
So have settled for SFP to audio zone and a lower speed switch on the data side given i need the extra port for the Home theater setup and will leave NAS attached to the main network
