Pass INT-60 vs Pass X250.8 with BHK Pre

Wondering opinions of this. For those who have similar equipment, how would a Pass INT-60 compare to say a Pass X250.8 being fed by the PSA BHK pre? Does the BHK pre play well with Pass Amps?

I have interest in the Pass INT-60 as I have efficient speakers and it runs in Pure Class A up to 38 watts. Just not sure of the quality of the INT-60 pre section.

Thank You

Tough question…

What speakers do you have?

The x250 and the INT 25 or 60 will sound significantly different on thier own. The Int 25 and 60 enjoy marvelous reviews. I have had Pass amps, pre amps and INT units. Every setup sounded differently…

This might be a difficult choice (as it almost always is) without at least an audition…

If you have efficient speakers its very hard to beat a INT 60 or 25.

I have recently jumped into the same realm. At 97db efficiency i could go with almost any amp. The INT 25 was top of the list but i got a great deal on a tube hybrid. Im fine for the moment but very hard to equal or beat the INTs.

Personal choice, but hard to go wrong with Pass. Some folks on here who have a bunch of experience with Pass. Good luck …

Thank You for the reply. I have two sets of speakers. GoldenEar T66 and Pure Audio Project Duet 15.

Thank You

All Pass amps are built with very powerful power supplies. I used an XA25 with 87dB speakers to wonderful effect. His specs are very conservative.
I once had a BHK preamp but I never paired it with my X250.8 but I can’t imagine it not pairing ok.
I just bought my son an INT60. It’s wonderful.

I own both the Pass X250.8 and the PSA BHK Preamp. They play very well together. Both pieces are high-end and you shouldn’t expect anything other than working very well together at these price points and build quality.

Just a thought. When upgrading my Decware amp with a Pass Labs amp I had considered the INT-60, a worthy integrated IMHO. I decided against it preferring the flexibility of an amp partnered with a pre amplifier. Ultimately I went with the Pass Labs XA-25 driven by an XP-12. Since I have upgraded to the XP-22. While more costly I know I made the right choice. The XP-22 took my system to a whole new level.

BTW–I just ordered some Pass monoblocks from a dealer that is run by a very nice, knowledgeable person.
I highly recommend them, especially as they seem to have a close relationship with Pass Labs.

No, not XS anything! I ordered X260.8s. I like the high class A bias and the AB dynamics. I had some here for two weeks while a friend was away. He had his two sons Moose and Big Moose deliver them and pick them up.

See above.

One can dream.
As I recall Elmer Fudd was constantly on the hunt, but never bagged the big one!

I just spoke to Jon of Refined Audio. What a pleasant guy. Could be a good replacement for our long lost pal Mark at Reno.

That’s great. I have been meaning to find a Pass Labs dealer (local) i.e. close to WI.

Am interested in checking out replacing the monoblocks XA60.8 with the X260.8’s.

I had XA60.8s. I loved them but I needed to “downsize” to a stereo amp so I sold them and bought an X250.8. Now space is no longer an issue. After comparing all of them, I chose the X260.8 over another pair of XA60.8s.
I loved the midrange liquidity of the XA60.8s but the AB amps have that plus better dynamics in my opinion. And the X260.8s are biased to 34 watts, so I’ll never leave Class A.

This is most welcome news. I am constantly looking for a good reason to head out to River Forest/Oak Park/Forest Park, so when I can I’ll look Jon up. Thanks again for the tip.

Precisely. I’m leaning towards the X260.8’s as well for the same reasons!
