Anyone get the PMG 512 DAC working with a Sofabaton X1S? I cannot get it to turn the DAC on or off or anything else for that matter. I was able to get the SofaBaton partially working with a MKII (turn on but not off and volume). All I really need is to put the DAC into Operational mode and out again (remote on/off). I prefer to leave the back switch on and keep power to the unit. The enclosed PSA remote works fine. The SofaBaton seems to read the IR codes for on/off from the PSA remote but does not send the codes correctly to the DAC. I tried using RF, but the DAC remote seems to use different frequencies than the Sofabaton RF433 or RF315.
If I recall new dac is Bluetooth or RF.
The PMG 512 DAC doesn’t have an IR input and uses RF. The remote itself does send IR (for backwards compatibility with our other IR devices).
Thanks for the reply. What RF frequencies does the 512 DAC use? The SofaBaton uses 433 MHz and 315 MHz
This forum isn’t officially moderated and the best way to seek customer service and support is to email. I will send an email to our team to clarify (currently we haven’t supported 3rd party control systems for our RF remote solution.)
I just confirmed that it is 433.9 MHz
Thank you. That explains why the two devices cannot communicate. SofaBaton requires the standard 433.0. Very unfortunate.

Visiting here as the PMG DAC has risen to the top of my short list. I was particularly glad to see that the remote had discrete buttons for each input making it particularly amenable to programmable remotes. However, I am now reading there is no IR remote input. This is likely a deal killer for me. I use a Harmony remote and have for years. I’m not likely to give that up.
Welcome
I gave up on my Harmony as it did not support my Anthem Preamp and Logitech abandoned the remote, like the have other devices I loved. I’m sticking with my SofaBaton.
Yes and no. Logitech stopped selling and supporting Harmony, but they have kept the database online. If something isn’t in the database, I just create a new device and teach it the commands with the device’s remote. Works just fine. I have three Harmony Ones to keep me going as long as it is possible to use the system.
Thinking about it, I do have an Harmony Elite, which is rf. It has a base unit that receives the signal and send IR to devices. I don’t know if rf devices can receive directly from the Elite or not. I’ll look into that. I’ll also look into SofaBaton. First I’ve heard of it.
Thanks
I verified that the Harmony Elite only uses rf to communicate with its hub which sends IR to devices. SofaBaton evidently won’t work with the 512. Out of options.
Not yet. I found two other options which I am exploring. I will report back.
Looking forward to what you find.
How is the SofaBaton for programming? Easier or harder than Harmony?
If you do change your mind someday, the PS Audio remote works nicely for volume control. I have used audio remote controls from Mark Levinson, Conrad Johnson and Parasound in addition to PS Audio, and the PSAudio remotes are by far one of the better remotes for volume control.
By far the Harmony was the easiest universal remote to program due to their extensive device library. However, it is outdated and not updated so I moved on. The SofaBaton is easy enough but can be frustrating at times. It has a decent library and many user-contributed libraries.
I’ve not found the desire or need for a customized remote. Perhaps I don’t have a complicated enough system.
I tried a BroadLink Universal. It supports 433.9 MHz and works the PMG DAC. However, it is a PITA to program my Anthem AVM90 so I gave up on that and I’m using two remotes - the SofaBaton and the original PSA remote.
