From my M4 Mac Mini/MinimServer UPnP server, I can’t play any DSF files. The DAC streamer immediately goes in the tank when I try. If I force MinimServer to convert DSF files to DoP on the fly, DSD64 and DSD128 files play fine, but DSD256 plays with short dropouts throughout. I can play everything with no issues through my Aries streamer=>I2S without DoP conversion, but I’d really like to use the PMG’s streamer if it results in better sound. I’ve not really done a serious listening comparison.
I reported having issues on to Delia on 11/5/25, but since I didn’t know at the time that the problem was related to DSF files, I wasn’t very helpful. When I discovered what the problem was a few days later, I created PMG Signature 512 DAC streamer BUG with DSD reporting this issue back on 11/9.
Perhaps work is proceeding on correcting the problem, but I don’t know if it is. I left voicemail for Delia on 11/11 referencing that topic, and again a few days later, and finally yesterday, this time asking her to give me a call. I suspect she’s very busy fielding queries from new PMG 512 owners, which I completely understand, but I wish I knew whether a fix was in the works, or at least in the queue. I only have about 10 days remaining in my trial period before I either have to ship my DirectStream Mk1 or the PMG 512 back to PS Audio, and I’d really like it to be the DirectStream.
