Hey guys I got my 512 today! I have listened to it yet. It’s been in the house plugged in and all hooked up except the amp. Reason is I’m in Eastern NC and the case when unpacking was very cold so I’m letting it acclimate a little. It’s been on for about 30 minutes. I’m so tempted to hook the amps up to this bad boy! BTW, how long can break in take?
Couldn’t help myself. It’s connected to my Luxman M900u and it’s getting better every minute. I can literally hear it improving. On some material I can hear it getting louder and back down. Cool! It’s like it’s waking from a long sleep and yawning, stretching!
Have you been backing up the zenith regularly?
yes, is backed up - is the back up savable/playable on other, non Innuos, software?
Have had it playing the Burn-In Track from Octave Records’ Reference Music SACD for about 12 hours, so total the new DAC has been in use for a little over 20 hours and I am hearing the bass and drums come alive to match the rest - added depth to the soundstage seems to be part of it blooming as well. Wowed. Now just need to get some glitches sorted - I forsee a call with PS Audio on the horizon.
I think even when you’re using DSD over PCM, the DAC should still recognize the data as DSD, and display appropriately, so I would double check that you didn’t convert your DSD to PCM accidentally.
They should be. Each file has no zenith related data in it. Think of the zenith as a purpose built audio computer that has a web interface only. Like any computer with audio files they are system agnostic mostly.
The PMG 512 DAC was easily integrated with my BACCH4MAC which was attached to my MKII DAC.It was plug & Play.
. My BACCH4MAC includes all modules including BACCH BM PRO, ORC, HEADPHONE and the RME UCX ii option.
The PMG 512 was a huge upgrade!
Hi Philip, it’s not the remote but the Pre’s receiver. The fix is to have it out on the outside on the underneath.
I’m stil having to do arial gymnastics to get mine to work/respond.
Cheers
Kevin
As mentioned previously, talk to Delia at PSA for the antenna installation, at your discretion.
Hi Kevin
Yes, I’m aware it’s the receiver, not the remote. My PMG Pre was from the very latest shipment into Australia, and the issue seems sorted with this batch, at least from my experience. Hope yours is sorted soon!
Cheers,
Phil
Thanks, My dealer is aware and is waiting for news from the Australian distributor.
If anyone was ‘peering’ through the windows whilst I was trying to get that Pre to respond - they would think I’m having a fit!

Ok, then I know why Tidal behaves like that. I usually use Roon so that’s not a big issue for me.
The streamer still doesn’t work so good though. Yesterday I noticed a new firmware was released so I tried to install it. It downloaded fine but got stuck when installing, so I had to recycle the power to get It going again. I tried several times (both cable and wifi) but every time It got stuck during the installation. Today I noticed an even newer version was available, so I installed it, this time without any problems.
The function of the streamer got ever worse after installation though. Tried to install firmware again, made a reset of the unit etc. Have tried Tidal Connect, Qobus Connect and Roon, ant the behavior is exactly the same. When playing I get about 2 seconds of music when playing 10 seconds. More dropouts than music. I also noticed the indicator for samling frequency blinking every 10 seconds or so. Maybe my streamer card is bad?
Regards Mats
I don’t think so. I had a very similar experience with the updates.
Seems a bad update was sent for short time. Lucky I tried after the good one was sent.
do you have a different issue?
Ok, is your streamer working fine with the new update “2.1.1f3db7”?
Before the update mine had more like random dropouts and static in right channel.
Mine was since last update this update inhave no idea what they did.
Was up late last night and happened to see the update. I’m a glutton for punishment, so avoided my own advice to wait on new firmware and let others be QA. Ugh.
Update went through but not success streaming. Did a factory reset, several reboots/power cycles. Then, firmware showed another update, so, again I did. PMG hung in update mode for a long time. Backed out somehow and it was more troubleshooting. Firmware appeared to only partially load, which I was keyed into by the PMG’s settings for “Version”. The “NMS:” line that should show “2.1.1f3db7” was blank. I assume NMS is the code for the streamer??? Many reboots, factory reset and finally another update brought it back.
From there, the PMG streamer would show on-line, I could see it on my network and, ultimately, in Roon. Roon appeared to be streaming but nothing actually playing on the PMG. Discovered in Roon under the “Audio” configuration there were 2 selections for my PMG; “AirPlay2” and “AirPlay”. AirPlay was in a previous firmware a few weeks back. Confused and remembered a post re. AirPlay vs Airplay2. Since AirPlay was back I disabled AirPlay2. Another reboot of PMG and Roon and AirPlay2 disappeared from Roon.
Then, noticed my network may have changed the PMG’s IP address from 192.168.1.116 to 114. Not positive but reason enough to believe my router may be confused? Rebooted my router and I was back in business. Have been streaming for 10’ish hours and no dropouts.
All this to say….reboot your router. The PMG seems finicky when negotiating the network and may require this to get a good handshake with the network.
Edit to add…multiple reboots of Roon software on my PC and ROCK, too.
Sorry about your firmware allergies.
