PMG SACD Transport impressions

yes, I have a hard time sending it out since I have not ordered PMG512 yet. I will send it to an anxious buyer on Friday. So, I will miss a few days of playing discs. He sent me the money already even though I told him I will hold on to it until next week. Originally I told him I will wait until March to sell (two vacations cost more than a few PMGs), but my stocks have gone crazy again (chips).

Oh well, may be I will just sent to him tomorrow since I am playing golf all day tomorrow anyway.

I have 4 AUVA CS-1’s under PMG 512/Pre/SACD.
I put a pair as far up front as possible for the heavy front panel. This distribution seems to work and is just under the suggested maximum.

I have 7 Stack EQs left. But I have four extra CSA2 inserts because they sent me the wrong ones some time ago. I can place four with CSA1 under one PMG and three under the other. When PMG512 is here I will toy with These combo. Fun!

But please don’t apply all changes at once!
Finally, we want to learn from you what each addition brings!

That’s hard! I already think about four variations with these footers alone. I put in the order for PMG512 before golfing this morning. So I have a few days to play. Wait! I have four more variations with Muon Pro placements plus in-and-out too. I’m in trouble

I received an advertisement that looked legit - only a few sacd transports left - no more to be built.

Was the real and if so, why? Doesn’t that limit interest in the dac too?

Thanks,

BOB

My understanding is the world is out of SACD drive units.

It’s real, and what Palouse said is correct. There were only enough drives left to make something like I think 300 PMG transports (plus enough held for spares). Once they’re gone, they’re gone. Unless somebody out there besides Esoteric decides to create a new SACD drive.

It is real. Marantz, the maker of the drive ceased production last year and we bought all their remaining inventory. And the PMG SACD has been a big seller and now that inventory is nearing its end. I suspect by day’s end they’ll be gone.

there still, some legacy available, or it is not updated?

If you do want one, I suggest buying one, soon. Debating positives and negatives will help with most purchases, but not in this case.

I think this says it all. The end.

Makes me curious for how long the Marantz SACD 10 will be available.

Music Direct lists it as “Not available for sale online - Call us to learn more”

I didn’t call.

I bought my SILVER PMG SACD Transport on January 9th. It was just a feeling that I should get the transport before PMG512. Less than three weeks later they are sold out. I sold PST in a day (very reasonable price it must be ), and DS MK2 even faster (a PM from an excited owner that will get it today).

I was not planning to buy PMG 512 so soon, but it seems it is problem free now. I will get mine on Sunday. :man_dancing:

There are two at TMR. One black one gold.

That gold/rose one looks sweet!

The SA-10, I believe, is an older model. I was referring to the fairly recent SACD 10. Marantz obviously doesn’t have optimal naming.

Oh well, PMG SACD transports are all sold out, even the black one.

It is so good that one day it will become a collectible. Who else makes one sounded this good under $10k? Do they even have one for professional review?

Please PSA, do not make more!

Yes Donald, they will be collectibles at 50% off list price…:+1:t2:
