Porn merchant at the very least.

I don’t see how that makes the DCS sound better. But I’m sure the DCS sounds great. I’ve been impressed by what I’ve heard. Vivaldi and Rossini DAC’s.

I don’t think you’d be as big of a fan if they were only available in black! Lol

But I believe it.

It is a tiny, self powered box. All you would need in the other location is a power cable and an HDMI cable. For what the DMP-A6 costs it’s a no brainer. If you have an MK2 DAC the USB output of the A6 will amuse and delight you.

Nice.

The AirLens is a great piece of kit for me at ~150 hours. Nice heavy weight, and solid performance with my heavily modded mk1. Thoughts like good system synergy come to mind. It’s like a good co-worker in the office, versus someone that’s very qualified without having the local accent or speaks another language altogether. And the AL hit the ground running. It did not require a bunch of HR meetings, background checks, or “how things work around here” discussions that I don’t desire spending much time doing.

BTW- any unit config recs from beta users? I just plugged it in, and it sounded great without feeling a need to change anything. Thoughts on physical switches I haven’t explored, and/or important Roon settings (ms delay for example)?

Hey, good news, the AirLens has arrived and I’m looking forward to getting it into the system. It’s going to have some competition to beat the Lindemann Limetree Bridge 2 - just played the Diana Krall Live in Paris SACD’s red book layer through the (non-DSD) Lindemann and wow it sounded good. Bar is set.

Now to compare how that 44/16 sounds compared to the AirLens, where I’ve ripped the DSD to the NUC. I’ll try out the AirLens with the same coaxial I use with the Lindemann first, to keep things as close as possible, and then after a good run, bring the I2S into the AirLens and DS2.

Both units have galvanic isolation, only the AirLens can do DSD, but I do love the way the Lindemann caches CDs like the PST in concept.

Hello,
I am very surprised that no one has mentioned the Matrix element S streamer? Sounds amazing and has USB out as well as i2S. $1500.00

What I2S cable are you using?

It comes preset to what we would suggest for you, so you’re in good shape!

Hmm, yes, this seems to have flown under the radar.

When it comes to listening/hearing and practical/urgent ease of communication, I ONLY mean. Easy to communicate. Variety and diversity are the spice of life, but when a person wants to cut to the chase with communication and clarity, it’s easier to understand one’s hometown lingo, versus that from the town on the opposite end of the globe. One way is considerably faster to the person, and one might take some time. Could it be worth it? Absolutely. Fast was so important to me this time, that the unit really hits the spot.

Sincerely, thanks for calling me out on a poor choice of words. I spit that out in the middle of the night, and offer my apology to anyone that might have been offended. Again, the comment was meant to praise good system synergy and electronics working easily together. It’s like having shoes and a belt from the same maker…they easily match.

Here’s a bit I picked up off HeadFi by someone who has both this new MATRIX Element S and an A6:

Both devices are very impressive in their own ways. The DMP-A6 is unmatched in terms of interface, display quality, flexibility, and value. It’s probably the better “mainstream” choice, if there is such a thing in the higher-end audio world. Having a quality fully-balanced integrated DAC on board is really handy and for a lot of systems it will be perfectly adequate on its own - while leaving room to grow with transport capabilities for when the user upgrades to a new DAC down the road.

Meanwhile the Element S is the superior transport in terms of SQ. Whether or not your system will pick up on that quality increase is something I can’t predict, but in a really nice system it definitely shows a clear benefit. I hear superior resolution, deeper extension, more fleshed out soundstage; basically the usual signs of a better transport. I also really appreciate having more outputs as some of my DACs perform best via AES, and some work best with I2S over HDMI.

I assume the AL will be Stereophile’s product of the year.

Hello Interested!
Great comparison: Lindemann limetree bridge 2 against PSA Airlens. Please let me know winner and differences in SQ. Thank you very much indeed …
