I just aquired one . its in ok shape. the rca jacks are loose and the speaker input on one side needs replacing. since its 41yrs old Id like to find someone who CAN restore it.
I live in North Louisiana so id like to find someone in Texas.
any idea ? sounds pretty good even if its ancient. its got a massive power supply like a brick.
appears it may be un-refreshable. if parts are non obtainable. but it works now.
@gentlejax That is not the case. Simply replace all the electrolytic caps. Power supply caps too. Put in new bridge rectifiers as well. Leave the old output transistors in it. Leave all the rest in it. That is a very good amplifier! It sounds absolutely wonderful and I will be willing to bet that you cannot buy one that sounds and is anywhere near as nice as that for the price of the restoration! Anyone who says that it cannot be restored is just trying to get you to spend more money or worse does not know what they are doing and should not be trusted to restore it anyhow. I have done them myself and I am not a tech, just a hobbyist. If a Phase Linear PL 700 can be restored that PS Audio 200C can be. In fact, that is actually a pretty easy amp to restore compared to others. Do not wait though. If anything fails then yes, many of the old transistors and such are no longer manufactured. If you want help visit over at Phoenix Audio and Tape website. Mostly Phase Linear talk but I am there, VSAT88. Send me a PM and I will help any way I can. I wish I still had my PC Audio 200 and 200C. I love all that copper!!!
ok. well I am not a tech but with some help I can maybe do this. and yes it sounds great .
im going to remove it from ebay while I can and get back to you soon
here is my email if you got second to write but if not i will catch you
