PWT outputs

Has anyone directly compared the Coax and 12s outputs of the PWT ? ,…Could you choose your top pick in a blind test?

@bluenose is the PWT being fed in to a DS-Snr/Jnr or a 3rd party (non-PS Audio)DAC ? Some 3rd party DACs support I2S as an external input.

I have and could. I2S wins every time.

Hi Frank ,

My Dac is the Wyred4sound 2V2SE with 12s input using the PerfectWave Transport as the primary source , .My dilemma the 12s input of the W4S dac isn’t working and my PWT which I just got back from PS Audio on a unrelated issue repair and they checked all outputs ,however the 12s connection wasn’t working prior to the repair of my PWT.

Currently W4S is pointing their finger at PSAudio & PSAudio have just confirmed the 12s port is fully functional with the PWT .

Im just curious if there is a notable sonic difference between using Coax VS 12s with cd playback because I’m liking the W4S general upgrade and chip replacement that clearly out paces my older EMM Lab components in quality of tone and micro details and I can expect more as things further burn in ,

OK then , hopefully I can get this issue resolved with W4S,.

@adminpaul what is your pick of the order of output (sonically) to use if I2S isn’t an option?

Coax via AES/EBU (balanced) next, then coax S/PDIF single ended.

Thank you Paul

As my last two DACs did not have an AES/EBU connection, I have always used a coax cable. Based on some posts by Ted, he mentioned toslink. He may have been talking about the connection from a Mac to the DSD, I’m not sure.

Anyway I had a DH Labs toslink cable, that I had been using with my Polk Sirius tuner. So I decided to try it between my PWT and my DAC, it sounded good.

Next time my audio buddy comes over, I plan on doing some blind testing with him, but I have been pleased with the detail with no downsides with bass or the top end. With one of my regular reference tracks, everything was there.

The coax cable I was using is one I have used for years, a Music Metre Fidelus.
