Rear panel gain setting for GCPH Phono

Hello,

I have a Soundsmith “The Voice” MM cartridge running into my GCPH phono stage.

I find the 48dB gain setting on the back panel means I have to run the front panel gain setting at the 2-3 oclock setting. At this setting I am getting a lot of noise. Also the sound quality suffers compared to a setting around the 12 oclock mark. Problem is I can’t get enough output from my Wyred4Sound STP SE preamp to achieve decent volume.

Question: Can I run the rear gain at 54dB and still chose an impedance setting of 47K? I get the impression from the manual that 47K impedance is available only when the rear gain is set to 48dB

Many thanks!
