Another sad day…
Relish every day and make them count. May he rest in peace.
Sorry to hear this. Never met him, but he was a giving, helpful guy.
Sorry to hear this too … condolences to family and friends. I was wondering what was going on with him, hadn’t gotten an “update” from him in some time. It was good he documented his knowledge, so many leave without doing so.
Very Sad. Great guy…I still don’t know if his .83 ratio means you sit closer or farther away from the speakers relative to equilateral triangle.
Does anyone know…you cannot get a consistent answer from internet or CHATGPT etc
The .83 refers to the distance between the speakers being .83% of the distance from the center of your listening position to the center of the drivers of your speakers. I use the front face of the HF drivers for purposes of this measurement.
I was a customer of his when he owned Audition in Homewood, Al. Smart, generous and hard working. I had the pleasure of watching and listening to him set up my Quad 63 speakers and Entec subwoofers in my home. Also enjoyed hanging with him during intermission of Alabama Symphony concerts where he was recording on his digital machine, Those master tapes played back on the big Apogee speakers driven with Levinson electronics in his store were as good as I have ever heard a symphony orchestra reproduced. He touched a lot of people in his life and I was lucky to be one of them.
