Such sad news, and the circumstances surrounding his death are deeply troubling. We lost a legend, but his music lives on.

Sad indeed. Can’t say I am familiar with his music, but mention of John Prine has raised my interest.
“Before I refuse to take any questions,
I’ve got an opening statement, I’d like to keep to myself …”
One of my very favorite openings ever.
He was in the hospital after being attacked and released with staples in his head and either told them he doesn’t feel like he’s ready to be released or came back later and refused care and arrested for threats of “kicking their ass” and trespassing. In the police video it sounds like they thought he was homeless and he responded with “I’m not homeless, I’m from Nashville, I’m famous.” Tried to explain why he was trying to go back to the hospital and all it got him was arrested. Released cause of death was walking pneumonia.
I got to see Todd a few times while he was with us on this planet solo and with Hard Working Americans and a festival set that he canceled close to or the day of the show after the death of Neal Casal.

What an end of life episode. The article helps, but doesn’t. Emotionally speaking, reading the information in the article leaves me cold, regardless of the intent, the impact (on me) is that forces are trying to placate me. As time goes on, I suspect little positive will come out of this tragedy; I will never get over this tragedy.
