Saved Music on Bluesound Vault

I continue to save purchased cds to our Bluesound Vault. This comes after first saving all our cds to Apple Music 8 years ago (compressed and wanting to be sure I had a better product). Question: I am backing up the Bluesound V music to an external hard drive. Can those files be played if connected to another streamer or is it saved/coded specific to Bluesound? That would be disappointing.

Thanks

In the Bluos app you can choose the format in which your ripped CD’s are stored on the Vault hard drive.
In the menu choose: settings->library->ripping->decoder setting
All the choices are normal formats that can be played on any streamer.
Hope this answers your question.

Thanks for the help
Is this a setting that I need to set prior to ripping? Meaning: I have to re-rip the cds
OR Hopefully a setting that I can set now and redo the backup to the portable hard drive with the new setting

Thanks again

This setting has to be done prior to ripping.
All the CD’s that are ripped after the setting become the desired format.
I don’t know what format the Vault choses when you didn’t do any setting.
In other words, I don’t know the default setting of the Vault.
You can check the format of the files that you copied to the hard disk, by checking the suffix of these files. For example: xx.flac - xx.wav - xx.mp3 etc.
Anyway: all these formats are good enough for any streamer to use.
Best format to choose: FLAC.

Thanks again…Hopefully no need to re-rip.

Thanks again
