I would be very disappointed if you left this thread behind. I am very happy with my Grid Protector. Today I moved it from on top of my Apex to the top shelf of my right rack. It is sitting right next to my Gryphon Ethos. Thanks to you I now know not to cover the LED. I had been putting a purple plastic cup, a bunny toy in top of the GP to cover the light. I won’t do this anymore. In a few minutes I will listen for the first time with the GP in its new position. Noice.
I need to know if I need to order an EMI Protector.
I wish you a quick recovery, my friend… winter cold is doing many victims here too!
On your Apex the GP was already on a higher level than mine, that is on the floor. Still haven’t tried it in a different position, so I’m curious…
As for EMI, my typical Italian enthusiasm would bring me to answer: purchase one without any hesitation (after a day with it in my system). Let me more time to become familiar with it if you want a more pondered answer. That you usually don’t!
Since this Schnerzy stuff (love the tag) some how grabs gremlins out of the air…does it improve things more that have to go the longest, like streaming?
People claim that Ethernet is well shielded but we also throw filters and switches in the chain. I’m thinking the EP would shine in this format.
Schnerzinger also has the LAN Protector for Ethernet. And there are other boxes for aerospace. The Schnerzinger portfolio is quite comprehensive and will continue to expand in the near future. But certainly a great thing for those who can afford it. I already had the opportunity to listen to the Schnerzinger system. The sound is incredibly realistic.
EMI Protector certainly improved SQ in my system and I’m streaming most of the time but I’ve read from other users that analog playback benefits even more.
I’m trying different placements to find out where it works better.
By the way the most impressive thing is its ability to make music turn real. An incredibly being-there effect, I’m really surprised.
Not only voices but also instruments (strings in particular) seem playing in front of me, I mean in the same room. Right here. It’s not a subtle touch of engagement, it’s way more what I’ve ever experienced in my system before. It’s like having a cleaner air around my listening position, I can hear a more detailed and open sound but never emphasized or harsh or edged, not at all. It’s quiet, relaxed and pleasant. There’s no tension or excessive stress, just ease and control. I’d say you feel better not only hear better.
So happy.
Tomorrow I’ll add to the equation also the new Reference Digital Director (why do upgrades always happen at the same time?)
