Schnerzinger Grid Protector EMI Allocator and other things

Good to hear that you are feeling better!

I was kidding to say putting these Schnerz boxes on your head, they will not make you feel better, probably make you sicker.

I’m sure I’ll get one sometime next year. My new speakers are keeping me very happy now and I’m sure well into the future.

My dealer and I had a few hours in my room today, listening to a few tracks.

He said that the PowerZone and Grid Protector has literally transformed my system, for the better.
Then we made a few tests with the EMI Protector, he was impressed by how it can bring in terms of realism. The best results came when I placed it on the rack, at least 50 cm. hight. It’s mandatory to let it work at its best!

What is a Digital Director? What does it do?

I guess that means I still need the EMI protector. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Is there a difference, rather than 1+1 = 2, from 3 to 4 as Steve Williams describes? Does the additional EMI protector make that much of a difference? The idea that it reduces radiation exposure in the room and benefits health and well-being would also be an argument. Is it with EMI relaxed music listen?
How do you feel about that, Luca?

Greetings, Andreas

It ended up looking like I was “selling” the Protectors to a MSB guy who fell in love with them while installing the Digital Director. We spent more time discussing and testing the Schnerzies than the MSB stuff. Weird!

At the end of the day I offered him a Protector to try at his own home!

Are you asking me how the DD sounds? C’mon, it’s superfluous!

I’m interested in that too. I recently typed Bacch into Google. I always thought this required a MacBook. I saw that there was such a thing as SP and Grande. Is an MU 2 still necessary? As I understand it, that would be a preamp, DAC and streamer with integrated Bacch. Only the price is far from what I want to spend.

MSB Reference DAC was made by 2 chassis: a D/A converter and a power supply.

After a few years they found that a third chassis would have improved the performances, hence the Digital Director.

The Digital Director enhances essential DAC functions, externally manages digital audio sources, provides unmatched noise isolation and digital filtering. Using our proprietary ProISL laser fiber optic connection, the Digital Director eliminates noise coupling into the DAC from any digital source. Increased processing power ensures our digital filtering algorithms achieve a new level of realistic and accurate analog reproduction. The Digital Director levels up the performance of all digital audio.

The DD makes the dirty job, then it sends the cleaned digital signal to the “old” chassis via proprietary ProISL connection (fiber), which finally does only the conversion to analog, before sending it via superb Sakra cables to the amp.

This solution ended up being so incredibly successful in SQ that they designed their next generation product, called Cascade, with 3 chassis. For the same reason: separating noisy digital part from analog. Yes, my friend, it’s insanely expensive if you are wondering.

We heard the digital director at Axpona and I was impressed.

To keep it simple: the GP is a sort of PZ booster, it provides an impressive improvement of all the attributes already brought by the Gryphon device (or whatever power strip in a system).

The EMI Protector seems to do another different job, turning the music so REAL! This is the incredibly great thing it does, voices and strings appear so realistic that you instantly feel like the musicians are playing in your room, right in front of you. And it works A LOT better once elevated at least above 50 cms from the floor or more.

Which one I prefer between the two? Both of them, of course.

Even though the Digital Director now reminds me the words “The winner takes it all”.= It never ends, love this crazy hobby! Hate this insane hobby!

Now I know why, Paul. Now I know…

Oh I love when it is insanely expensive! That is the best part!

Shouldn’t the EMi be placed on the opposite side of the room of the hifi setup?

I’d say that centered between (slightly behind) the speakers is the first way to go.
