This sacd transport the Shanling ONIX Zenith XST20 put out dsd out via i2s output.
Someone already have hear this with a ps audio dac?
The Shanling Onix Zenith XST20 appears to be a promising SACD transport, especially with its native DSD64 output via I2S. For those using PS Audio DACs, the FPGA-assisted I2S output with multiple pin configurations should aid in achieving compatibility. It would be great to hear from anyone who has tested this setup to share their experiences
I just posted about this unit on the Grimm MU2 thread on this forum:
Unfortunately I don’t have experience using it with the Ps Audio DirectStream DACs, though I owned a modified Mk I years ago.
but Grimm does not have I2S
Hey @akro - Apologies, I misstated. The ONIX has i2S. It works with the Grimm via AES or Coax. The ONIX unfortunately does not allow for DSD transmission over USB.
Thanks for making me clarify!
Are you a dealer for the Onix? Asking for a friend. Lol
No i am not a dealer,but i am curious about onix to.Sacd transports are expencieve,like dCS,PS audio,Esoteric…
@paul172 Yes I am. Text or call if you want any info or feel free to pass my info on if you would like.
Thanks Juan!
Will Onyx SACD work with PS Audio Dacs (ie, send DSD files; my Oppo transport will not send DSD to a dAC)?
Hey @akro - Yes, it will send native DSD over i2S even with the DirectStream Mk1 (or Mk2), or or DSD over PCM (DoP) with AES or Coax. It does not send DSD over USB.
Questions
A theory is that with the Onix the SACD bitstream is decoded to another format inside the unit and then reencoded to DoP/D2P
- Does the new PMG SACD do this, or send untouched datastream to DAC?
- Does the new PMG SACD only work with PSA Dacs?
- Has PSA worked things out with Sony re its SACD DSD licensing?
